Possibly there is simply no discussion between the sane and the insane. That would not stop the insane from telling other insane minds what the sane mind thinks. Possibly the sane mind does not use words, but something more like telepathy. If psychotics tell us what the sane mind thinks, its possible that insanity would become the new sane, at which point the insane are completely lost without a clue. Dunno.
A theory of God or Mother Goose and scientific theory are way, way different things. That much we could agree on.
well not really. If we create Mother Goose and God it's just a matter of how much power we give to each. It takes a hell of a man to give up his power of creation and give it to the God he created.
....fine, but then watch how the universe don't give a shit. No matter how much power you think it possible to give those imaginary concepts, God, Higher Consciousness, Mother Goose, whatever, they do not have, nor can anyone give them the power to exist the way an ordinary pencil on my desk does.
Santa Claus is the fantansy-story adults tell kids. The biblical God is the fantasy-story adults tell each other.
BTW, imagining and then inventing GOD (capital GOD) is a natural and correct thing. It is inventing a biblical/koran/etc etc God that has caused all this grief.
and that is the power of the Torah. and how much better would your young life had been if there was no Santa Clause? It's a bitch when you find out there isn't one, but I don't carry resentment for the rest of my life because at one time I believed in it hook, line and sinker. I even put cookies out for him on the fireplace hearth (at my Mother's encouragement.) Those were good times.
You keep assuming that a believe in God is a benign thing. If it were only true. Just look at the history of religion and all the killing that has been done in the name of God. Forget about all the rest like "marriage is between a man and a woman because God says so". Or keeping women inferior because the bible says so. Or or or or or or................................................... Does that mean that everyone that believes in God is a natural born killer? Of course not. But once you take the step in believing in fairy tales, you have weakened your mind in incalculable ways. That being said, people that are able to compartmentilize their belief systems without becoming fanatical, and catch themselves when it is clear that their religious belief is hampering or opressing others, well, those people in my eyes, if they want to believe in God because it makes life that much more beautiful to them, they have my full backing. If your believe system doesn't hurt anyone else and you don't impose that belief system on others, why would anyone object? FWIW, these people are rare, but they do exist. The temptation to impose your God on me (subtle or otherwise) is almost impossible to resist. "For once you go down the path of the Dark Side, forever will it rule your destinity" - Yoda
