Is fully automated trading a fantasy? Your opinions here

Is a 100% automated system possible for a $10k (futures/forex)? To live off of?

  1. Yes, you can print money in the markets (large, consistent short term gains).

  1. Well, if it made 900 trades in 18 months you can come close to figuring out how many per day

    $332,700 in 881 trades over 366 days is $378/day. About 2.4 trades/day, $157/trade, ~1.5 ER2 points.
3 contracts to start?, ~.5 point profit/contract...at least to start.
Sounds like we all can do it if my calculation are correct.:)

  4. Is the equity curve of $332,700 for 3 er2 contracts?

  5. $400 per day is easy to make on one contract if you were experienced and really knew what you were doing. Might be one $500 profit and a loser of $100. Easy if you know how :)

  7. It easy if you know how to trade effectively. Never said I was efficient. Floor traders make that kind of profit every day. No yachts in the midwest....moving though:D

  10. Its obvious the program made $400/day so its there to be made. Its not easy, only in theory or without the human emotion side of the equation. The typical range of the ER mini is 10 points/day, except in consolidation after a large move.
I've read about bond traders on the floor who knock out 10 points/day, or $320 every day to make $70K or more per year just like laying bricks, same method daily.
I think one point in er mini is just noise and you have to hold on to a target...maybe just 2 or 3 to 1. If you can't make more than one point on one contract on a daily average, you likely should not be trading multiple contracts.
