Is full capitalism sustainable?

  1. actually you are the one who should get real

I work at a company with over 200 employees, no one does more than 2 hours of work, 2 hours is the max, the other hours they are on facebook, youtube or on the phone, (and I am on ET), and yet the company as a whole is worthless, the whole company could be closed today and other than some 200 people getting unemployed nothing would change, I am sure there are thousands of these worthless companies around the world, having a cool job title doesn't mean you are contributing shit to the society, most jobs are pseudo jobs, serving no purpose other than employing people

Maybe this is why SETI can't find anyone to talk to in outerspace. One of these is going to get us too eventually.

    1. AI robots eradicates us.

    2. Astroid hit destroys all complex life.

    3. Super valcano erruption destroys all complex life.

    4. Super virus destroys humans.

    5. Nuclear war/winter destroys all complex life.

    5. Aliens destroy humans to take planet

    6. More intellegent creature evolves and destroys humans.

    7. Sun coronal mass ejection hits earth.

    8. Ozone layer is destroyed killing all life not in the sea.

    9. Super collider or other device creates black hole or strangelet consuming earth.

    10. Anti-matter astroid collides with earth.

    11. Elect Obama president. (had to toss that one in)

There are many more possible ways for the universe to get rid of us.

Are the owners open to selling the company? Sounds like a there is a lot of profit to be made by taking over this company and firing all your lazy a$$es.

SETI can't find anyone because of simple physics which all the radio astronomers involved in SETI seem to ignore.

Take a copy of the earth with all of its radio emissions and place it at a distance from the real earth equal to the distance from earth to the closest star. Current SETI receivers would not detect any signal. We could not even detect ourselves because the receivers are not sensitive enough. SETI is a waste of time and money until the technology is ready.

  6. 3 hours max lol, airline pilots work more than that,,as do truck drivers and train engineers and many other professions, if your job only takes 10 minutes to 3 hrs a day and you make a good buck then I would NEVER leave it lol because you have it made.

  8. Since this thread is going to chit chat first thing in the morning, might as well respond to this.

    Humans love hubris

If someone could sum up our history in one sentence, it would b: "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Of all the things u mentioned, I would put all my money on one of these three.

    AI
    Superbug gets out.
We start a war, it goes nuclear, and a superbug gets out.

Feel confident though that we feel confident that we are right and the rest of our brothers are wrong, and for that we gotta kill em.

If aliens r out there would they seriously want to be bothered with a child species that cannot even make it to the next planet over??

SETI is a joke, as another poster pointed out already.

  9. The only reason he is president is because full capitalism provided sufficient luxury (machines) that we could have someone completely unqualified as him to be President. If the U.S. were a socialist country for the past 200 years could not afford such a silly gamble.
