    BigSalad

    Oh sure....

Build the website, that's all it takes right?

What about the FOUR HUNDRED MILLION users?
Creating the serverside technology for handling that traffic?
The thousands upon thousands of applications created within the FB framework that have millions of users?
Create the FB API to allow games like FarmVille to operate and connect to the Amazon EC2 etc?

Facebook is super valuable, and they're working hard to monetize the traffic with ads but what's going to be the golden egg is micro transactions.

If you think this is easy to do, you're cleary completely in the dark as to what it takes to build a tech company's business.

People do not want fifty social networking pages, but Facebook is the biggest for the western world and that simply won't change for a long time to come.

  4. dude, what Intel does is hard, this web crap is bullshit by comparison.

  5. facebook isn't worth shit.

just as myspace destroyed friendster, and just as facebook is destroying myspace, someone will destroy facebook.

facebook has a lot of users but the most active ones are 17-30 year olds. remember, it started out as a college social networking site. people in this age group are interested in "the next cool thing", and facebook is cooler than myspace. myspace got old and tired that's why people abandoned it.

one day something more fashionable than facebook will come along and the process will repeat. these sites are like jeans -- in style one season, out of style the next.
