Unfortunately not many prop shops in Canada and don't have the credentials to get into good ones in the US like Jump, IMC etc. Going to be going it alone, luckily have some experienced traders helping me out. What did you learn at the prop shop that you weren't able to learn on your own?
Network of experienced traders may serve similar purpose. Main thing prob is how to run a trading business... but also, learning things like what you don’t know you don’t know. Btw, I had never heard of the two shops you mentioned-neither looks like what I was referring to as “prop shop.”
So which prop shops are you referring to then? At least in the US, the top prop shops right now are imc, jump, jane street, drw, five rings etc.
I was referring to what I guess are smaller shops trading your own capital as a “money-up” trader. Thanks for sharing the others-seems like one could learn just as much in those settings.
Are you referring to prop shops that will give you buying power while trading your own capital? I didn't think those kinds taught you anything tbh. I'm surprised they did for you. The ones I have mentioned have the best trading education programs but the bar is high to get in (think ivy league, good grades, or excellent work exp).
Can you give examples of topics of what you learnt there that what you didn't learn when trading by yourself? Any aha moments?
one of the main things was seeing dozens of other traders’ points of view...the topics could be any basic element of trading...as prev mentioned- how to manage your business, what is working, trade ideas not previously thought of, tape reading, market analysis, what not to do -that seems to be helpful one for the bottom line... so many things you get exposed to when around a large number of trader all day.
