After the Diamond Princess luxury liner incident, Robert Kadlec made the decision to allow 14 coronavirus infect Americans to board a plane, headed to Spokane, Washington, with non-infected Americans without telling the president or even the citizens boarding the plane with them. Bush: "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job"
Three days after Hurricane Katrina flooded much of New Orleans' Ninth Ward President George W. Bush praised the work of FEMA Director Michael Brown.
Ten days after Bush verbally patted Michael Brown on the back before the TV cameras, Brown resigned amid a public uproar over his qualifications and the administration's failure to get aid to New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

"I Knew My Number Was Up" - An American Coronavirus Patient Speaks Out

If you told me when I left home in January that I wouldn’t be back until March – that, instead, I would be confined for more than 24 days because I’d catch a novel virus at the center of what could become a pandemic – that would have completely freaked me out. But now that it’s happening, I’m just taking it one day at a time.

As told to Washington Post editor Sophia Nguyen.

It is fine, just being hooked up to an IV and with carefully monitored potassium will make a huge difference to any similar illness. Too high and it contributes to kidney failure, low and everything else goes wrong.

The thing is how many will actually have this.

As my wife sort of wants a kid I went to a fertility clinic today and saved a precautionary (insert euphemism here) due to the suspected but still not confirmed risk of damage to male fertility.

    Plot

A deadly virus called "Captain Trips", engineered as an advanced biological weapon by the government, is accidentally released across America and the world, causing 99.4% of the entire world's population to die. The 0.6% who survive struggle to find their bearings and rebuild civilization in the aftermath of the plague. They all dream about two opposing figures: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man, and Mother Abagail, who is receiving visions from God. The survivors split into two factions, one led by Flagg, and one led by Mother Abigail, and prepare for the final stand between good and evil.

This is a particularly clear explination of the virus by a doctor which may be useful to some.

  9. The scary part of the Corona is the fatality rate in those 60 and over. Just like the Flu, senior citizens with already compromised health situations have a much higher fatality rate in these kind of things.

  10. The new virus is genetically 96% identical to a known coronavirus in bats and 86-92% identical to a coronavirus in pangolin. Therefore, the transmission of a mutated virus from animals to humans is the most likely cause of the appearance of the new virus.
