Is day trading worth it?

    Trend Line Breakout Pullback long setup (TL across 5-min 12:50 to 1:50 highs) offered another opportunity to the long side between 2:18 and 2:23.

    MAE = 4

    MFE = 30 (so far)

    100.41 was a slight overshoot of the upper channel line parallel to the pre-market LTL.

    Seems to be some positive expectancy in both the setup and the R:R here.

    :cool:

  2. Hahahaha, you're so mad right now.

    Don't claim ridiculous, no, absurd numbers and think I'm just going to swallow it whole without picking at you. What are the odds that you want this moved to chit-chat so it doesn't tarnish your rep.?

  3. Nobody in the history of this planet has had those numbers. Not even HFT.

  4. I used to make $100 an hour playing poker. I'd play around 25 hours a week. I'd have people tell me all the time, "just play twice as much or move up limits and you'll make millions". I guess since they did the math they were right?

    They were assuming that I could play my "A" game for more than a couple hours at a time. They were assuming that the games that I had an edge in were available at all times. They were assuming that going up a limit was the same as doubling a bet size. They were assuming that the psychology of putting a thousand dollars at risk was the same as the psychology of putting tens of thousands dollars at risk. They were assuming that my priority was making the most money I could. They were assuming that no emotional capital was spent by playing.

    You do know what they say about making assumptions don't you? The math can be right and you can still be wrong.

  5. Wow, baller!

    So you're comparing a severely capacity-constrained market to a liquid index futures contract? Cool story, bro.

    HFT lets their profits run? Hmm.

    So anyone interested can run an analysis of the trend line breakout pullback setup for your chosen instrument and you should be able to come up with a trading plan for profiting from it as a day trader or swing trader.

    Too much work. Isn't there a trading room I can join somewhere and just trade somebody's calls? Or a mentor I can hire so that I don't actually have to come up with a trading plan?

  9. With respect to r/t calls and claims? I did better than 10x risk in this thread and produced the blotter. Every trade reconciled and taken by multiple parties. So there is his answer. And no, I have not replicated 10x (or better) risk since. My PF is roughly 5 since that thread was closed (a very good year) at my request..

  10. Are you sure you're actually learning?

    Please let me know what specifically you've learned lately that's actually translating into profits. I think it's very easy to think that you're actually learning, when you're actually learning nothing at all.

    I've been there myself.

    You've been on this site since 2002. Are you making any money as a trader yet?

    I don't really care that much about these two at this point and you're right that you've now been warned. For the record, my disagreement was with dbphoenix and not NoDoji. I've always believed ND to be a profitable trader, but statements like "extremely rare to have losing days" do make me suspicious. I already said it, but one of the things that gives guys like sellindex credibility, is that he actually loses money as well and posts it. But maybe she is a savant trader and one of the best in the world. It is after all possible.

    This thread is starting to get pretty long now, but I believe the reason I called out dbphoenix in the first place is that I feel he has a responsibility as he's taking on the role of a guru and actually teaching people. He's also a vendor selling a $30 ebook, something I do find puzzling for a guy who's supposedly been successful in the markets for a long time.

    Further, I find it amusing that he keeps calling me and other losers and having ego issues, and so on, when I do not see anything that indicates he's not a loser himself.

    That's why I called him out on it in the first place, in a rather respectfully manner if I know myself. The guru is the one who took it to this level by answering in a condescending manner and continuing to sit on his high horse while coming with snide remarks.

    I hope that answered some of your questions.

    Kind regards from Norway.
