Is Day Trading Dead?

  1. Swing trading is where the real money´s at nowadays.

Daytrading is now more based on luck then anywhere else in history, after the advent of the PC.

Swing trading eliminates most of the noise intraday.

Daytrading is alive and well .. but for successful players only. This is what is not being understood; its all about SUCCESS. Most of everything that takes you to millionaire or billionaire ranking is going to be littered with losers - those that dream of riches and who don't make it even if they make the attempt. There is nothing new here. Making big money is not for all the ordinary folk and even if and when they do make a lone attempt at some project to make themselves rich, failure, sooner or later, is the norm

But just look at the metrics of futures markets. Mostly they offer big points daily (eg CL). If there are duller days these markets still average daily good points per week. And trading markets by investment banks and institutions is about continuous success measured per day.

So for the individual trader here it is: its back to getting a reliable daytrading methodology to master daily success. And for sure you need patience, persistence, savvy and the right temperament. But bottom line, making yourself rich is still a choice you can make.

  3. It's almost a relief to find this thread. I was day trading fine before I went on my vacation. Once back, and it seems volume has dropped and momentum in any direction is scatchy. I'm finding it very difficult day trading and am trying to device some new strategies.

So what exectly happened over the last 7-9 weeks? Has anyone been able to CONFIDENTLY been able to make money over this period?
