The Republican party is rife with politicians committing crimes. You can start with Trump on that. I have my doubts on your posted premise but crime rates are far lower here in Canada then the US so I guess you are advocating for more Canadian policies being embraced in the US. Right ? Republican "tough on crime" policies have been an absolute disaster for decades. Give your head a shake try to think more critically about your country instead of posting this political bias shit.
Democrats are corrupt and easy on crime. They protect thugs. Lets stick to the issue, how it affects the economy?
Too many people follow the news as their source about crime without taking a closer look at the details of the crime. Retail Theft As you can see via the below statistics...looting or someone coming in from the outside to steal underscores the real problem with retail theft even though looting is a problem in itself. The bigger theft problem is internal theft by employees and management control of their inventories when merchandise is moved from one store to another or moved from wholesaler to retailer. Yet, videos and stories on TV about looters are better news stories for TV and Social Media in comparison to theft by employees (an inside job...Ocean 12). Return Fraud Statistics Return fraud, which is not included in theft statistics... is almost NEVER a news story. States lost total $4.743 billion in taxes to retail return fraud in 2021. 37.9% of retailers report increased incidents of return fraud over 5 years. Return fraud represents about 10.4% of retail merchandise returns. 10.3% of in-store returns are fraudulent. Return fraud represents 10.7% of online sales. 10.1% of holiday returns are fraudulent. TV news and social media love California, New York, and cities like Chicago for their organized retail theft stories. Yet, the below states show Florida and Texas up there too in the top 5 states. In fact, 2 of the top 5 states are Republican states. Thus, it's not a Democrat or Republican problem with Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee expected to surge more by next year...we could possibly see 3 or 4 of the top 5 states in retail theft be Republican states. It's a problem all over America regardless of state, city, or county (the chart below is billions per state in annual losses). The fact is this. The United States has much more serious crimes (e.g. violent crimes) than Canada. Thus, the U.S. has less time, energy, and money to convict/house thieves of petty theft...retail theft because its judicial system is becoming overwhelmed in dealing with other crimes that are much more serious. The good news, AI will be merging with RFID to better track and identify thieves in 2025 assuming the Republicans do not stand in the way on new laws involving privacy issues coming to us...courtesy of Homeland Security. wrbtrader
Yes, you should stick to the issues of what's really occurring in ALL states of America considering currently 2 of the top 5 states for retail theft are Republican states (Texas and Florida) with Missouri, Ohio, and Tennessee predicted to reach the top 5... https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/is-crime-hurting-out-economy.376451/page-2#post-5871400 In fact, it's predicted by the end of 2024 when the Republicans take over the Oval Office...retail theft will exceed 100 billion dollars annually in losses going forward. Yet, you factually tried to make it a discussion about Democrats without any statistics about the economic impact. Simply, just like your prior username that's banned...this thread under the facade of economics is really just another political discussion that you started. With that said, look at the stuff that Trump took without permission from the White House, and then he refused to give it back when requested, and then Trump lied to say he no longer had it after he shared it with foreign countries until the DOJ found it piled up in a backroom bathroom/ballroom at Mar-a-Lago... You can't make this shit up. It's something right out of a Hollywood mafia crime story. A reminder, military personnel have been convicted and gone to prison (average of 3 years) for taking much less in the past 10 years in comparison to what Trump stole. P.S. I'm not blaming Trump's actions for rising crime in America because it has been increasing since the European Immigrants arrived in the early 1900s (e.g. Gangs of New York...The Plug Uglies, The Forty Thieves, The O'Connell Guards, The Shirt Tails, The Chichesters, The Daybreak Boys, The Swamp Angels, and several others). Opposing facts to my above statement about European Immigrants as a start of the increasing crime problem in the United States @ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2831353/ P.S.S. You know Baron is watching and waiting for you to reveal yourself. So far, its fun watching you walk on eggs as you're trying to be clever to prevent saying certain key words that reveals you as someone that's banned. wrbtrader
Crime is always good. Especially smash and grab and looting. It means the US economy has to make more stuff. Making more stuff keeps people busy. It is like sending stuff to the Ukraine to be blown up. Excess inventory dump. If you have too much stuff you have to get rid of it somehow.
All the crime is happening in Liberal cities. We all know that. All the suspects are the usual one’s. What else is new …..
Smash and grab, looting, etc. are crimes of the poor. They make the news because they're brazen and shock our senses of citizenry. Not excusing it, but the data provides perspective; more goods are stolen from employees, more scams are perpetrated online, more money is stolen from illegal kickbacks than petty criminality. I get it, we're less threatened by these crimes than risking our lives being at the wrong place at the wrong time when some petty thugs decide to rush the store we just walked in. But please, focus on law and order, not on the economic impact of petty criminality...
Another keyword by you involving ignoring the prior posted statistical facts (Republican states just as guilty) is that this is not an economic discussion for the economic thread... Liberals I have the popcorn out while waiting for you to say what really is on your mind that's under the facade of an economic discussion. Seriously, start posting some data, and statistics about the economic impact of retail theft in America to prevent a request for this thread to be moved to the Political thread. wrbtrader
