  1. "now if you take one of their gang guys and blow him away in a public execution with the wanna be's watching... and you turn to the crowd and announce that everybody that does the same crime will be hunted down, captured, tried and blown away in the same manner..... that might be a message they can understand."

Doesn't work. Happens every day in the inner city.

  2. Look at the crimes committed then end with a suicide. If the end result is in wanting the perp dead, there ya go. How does that make you feel?

  3. "satisfactory" as in providing closure to the bereaved? that was my above point...

or did u rather want to say "appropriate" as in being an efficient way to deal with a problem once and for all from a societal standpoint, like life without parole but cheaper, and not at all to provide closure nor deter anybody?

if the latter, again its clear your not going to be able to make any material difference to society from an efficiency standpoint, unless u roll out your "capital punishment" thing to cover a fairly wide range of situations, leaving the door wide open to all sorts of additional judicial errors & abuses... not desirable

and there are other options, like life behind a treadwheel no parole etc...

therefore keeping a form of "capital punishment" in place is more of a symbolic vestige of primitive societies...

  4. Yes. Their capital punishment methods are one of the few things, perhaps the only thing, this country could benefit from by emulating the Chinese.
