This I know, but most of the OLDER communities are getting wired for Fiber... Especially rural areas. (Less infrastructure to navigate.)
I just dropped cable Internet (Comcast) because of poor reliability. It was very fast (~9.6mbps), so I believe they have latest technology. But I was getting occasional interruptions of 1-3 seconds and sometimes a long as 10 seconds which caused major problems with the link to my broker. It would have been fine for web surfing. [rwk]
I'm having troubles with my global futures connection, they told me how to ping the ip address to see if its comcast, I use jtrader and I keep getting the box that says YOU ARE IN S STATE BECAUSE WE DID NOT RECIEVE YOUR ORDER IN 5 SECONDS I called today and found out how to ping the site thru pingplooter.com a lot of times the pl% went to 100% and kept saying err and it would be at 35 to 100 on the pl%, theres an ip address somewhere in the middle that is 68.86.90.37 that says no info, its between plainfield nj and new york, it seems to be the one that drops out the most I wanted to know if anybody else is having trouble with the jtrader or comcast? anybody know if dsl would be better for a good connection I have to time my trades pretty good to trade because it can fill me way out
I have Comcast in Denver and it's real good, 8mg down, 1.5 up. I would suggest you try DSL. It can't hurt. Most offer a 30 day money back gurantee. How old is your cable modem? I use the Motorolla SB 5100 DOCS 2.0. Also you can consider a dual wan router, which I plan on gettting. I would look at this one. They offer American based tech support by phone as long as you own the product. Here is a link, although I might by it from a dist. with a better return policy. http://www.provantage.com/xincom-dpg502~7XINC003.htm
