Is anyone trading the Nikkei 225 Mini?

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by Schaefer, Sep 3, 2007.

  1. Nikkei is a bit limited in range so you need to trade it with that in mind.

On ib u can trade N225 N225M and SGXNK.

More range in your times can be found with

SPI STW (taiwan) and EUR.JPY (currency pair which has reasonable spreads and quite good moves at this time).

Also note there is a new N225 Mini contract that started trading on SGX. Our symbol is SGXNKM. It ticks in 1 yen increments.

Thanks Def, didn't know about that one.

Edit: There's no information available about SGXNKM on IB's website. Will they be updating soon?

  4. Argghhhhhhh. I had to step out so I closed my position @ the end 1st session.

I had a feeling it would gap up and did it ever.

  5. It's still new. Spreads are not so good.

The only people playing are MM's, and at the moment they are scrathcing their balls.

  6. LOL Def,

    Thats VERY new.

It will be a little too new and slippery until it has a bit of volume :)

correct, it looks like there are 1 or 2 MM's who are quoting 1 tick outside the N225 on the SGX at least 50 up. thus slippage shouldn't be too bad. however, the contract size is so small that it might be a product which is good for testing the waters at low cost before trading the larger contract.

as for our site, I assume it will be updated shortly.

And one more with regular candles instead of the Heikin Ashi. Both charts are based off of 1597 constant volume.

    Schaefer,

Can you tell us why you use 1597 for constant volume?

    Thanks.
