Actually XEN is from University of Cambridge http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/Research/SRG/netos/xen/ Apparently new CPUs from Intel and AMD will have better support for virtualization, so possibly XEN might also support Windows as well as Linux, BSD and Plan 9 in the not too distant future.
Google is most likely not going to release anything that depnds upon $soft OS or frameworks. In their core space, $soft is their competitor and thus they probably are not going to promote anything that supports them. They will support things that allow them to write software that can run on multiple platforms and which does not lock their customers into $soft.
Hedging against Vista screwing up once more? http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050809-5191.html Hasta la Longhorn beg you pardon Hasta la Vista
I've seen many many posts criticizing Windows/Microsoft here and there in this website. I can't believe that a few people can make such loud noises--same people post the same thing over and over again here and there in this website. nononsense, you're being the top anti-windows poster of elitetrader.com. Please claim your golden award from Linux.org
can anyone send a link to a clear vivid list of longhorn's minimal and/or recommended hardware requirements (cpu, ram, etc.) thanks (if you'll ever find one)
Well, you appeared to be quite vocal about how great XP is ... initially. Hopefully people have given you a few things to think about. If your goal is to reduce costs, and your application stack does not depend upon $soft, then you really need to consider Linux.
Is anybody going to Upgrade to Longhorn windows? The State of Massachusetts ain't. http://news.ft.com/cms/s/80033a76-1a71-11da-b7f5-00000e2511c8.html Next to the M$ gospel it's worth reading this one as well by another oldtimer: http://www.computerweekly.com/Articles/2005/09/01/211589/IBMsaysLinuxischeapertorun.htm brandnew, hope this helps. Simply trying to be objective and post something useful at ET's. Instead of foaming about golden nothings, better try to find out for yourself. I did too!
honestly, i would give longhorn a try if i don't need to buy new hardware for it. problem is no one on earth can answer what the hardware requirements are!
