No, no, no. This is flat-out wrong. You can NEVER alter someone else's words without either permission or attribution. Period. (Editing, per se, is not the issue.)
Could you add a note at the bottom:" post edited by _______" it would increase the intregity of the content. Like journalists who update a story
Sometimes they do that...sometimes they don't. I guess it depends on the moderator doing the editing. Thus, maybe Baron needs to setup some kind'uv of auto setting for moderators that shows the name of the moderator that did the editing... "Moderator edit @ 1216hrs"
We already have that function in place. In fact, we even have a version control for every post so we can see exactly what was edited from the original post, and who made that edit (original poster, moderator, etc.). It's just not a publicly accessible feature for all to see.
By fiddling with words, I just meant that in certain cases we may need to remove any references to a specific post or user, since that user's post may no longer exist. We have no interest in re-writing your post or changing it's meaning in any way. End of story.
