IRS: So… Our Computer Crashed And Erased All Of Lois Lerner’s Emails

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Trader666, Jun 13, 2014.

  1. So the dog ate the homework? How convenient. Unless the IRS is using a Commodore 64 their story is a lie, or a massive cover up.
Email is collected on remote servers. Servers are connected in arrays that 'mirror' each-other (so that if you lose one or more, you have others to back it up). These servers are backed up daily, weekly and monthly with the back-up tapes taken to safe storage locations. Emails over a two year period would be on dozens of different back-up tapes. You would have to destroy all the back-up tapes DELIBERATELY after getting them out of the archives.

  2. My guess is they spent the last year making sure the emails can't be recovered.

    Its not possible.

The government is required by law to retain *all* emails generated during the conduct of its business and a huge amount of money was spent on implementing systems across the entire government for that purpose.

The DoD, for example, includes those email retention systems in its Operational Readiness Inspections. The servers get checked & verified and the ORI inspectors go around checking individual workstations for the email retention client. There is an icon for the email retention client on the desktop of every government worker who has a computer and it starts on bootup. The laws carry heavy penalties for non-compliance and are written to hold management accountable

Such a massive effort went into email retention that it is inconceivable that Lerner's emails could go missing. People will go to jail if that email traffic is truly missing.

On the other hand, the government is also required by law to follow the immigration laws as codified by congress but they seem to be deliberately flooding the country with illegal aliens so maybe the laws don't really apply to the government at all.

Apparently they can do anything they want.

I've adopted the do-anything-I-want philosophy and now simply pick and chose which rules I will comply with and ignore the rest. Pretty fun really.

  5. Clearly there is a coverup, but do you really think Eric Holder is going to prosecute anyone? He is running his own coverups.

You are going into alot of the more technical aspects, which are definitely accurate, but it may leave some people still in denial over this.

Here is a much simpler way of putting it.

Do you think there is any way in a million years the IRS would have simply, "lost" the data that shows how much everyone owes them in taxes? This data is necessary to keep them alive, so it wouldnt happen.

This would be akin to a bank losing the numbers in everyones account. Barring a world wide melt down due to hacking It is not possible, there is a million fucking safeguards against it.

So the IRS, an agency who is incapable of losing information en mass, wants us to believe that they lost all agency emails at a time that just so happens to coincide with a time where the top brass has already been shown wanting to target people based on politics?

If i was involved in a congressional hearing i would ask them 1 very simple question. When was the last time the IRS lost the data on how much we all owe them? It has never happened and it is not possible.

Anyone who is stupid enough to believe that this is a coincidence at this point needs to have their head examined.

P.S. welcome back OHMS nice to see ya again buddy.

So, Bigarrow....... You have proclaimed many times that you are a "pragmatist." Many here have questioned your objectivity. You have claimed you have a fierce dedication to objectivity, like Piezoe, who still claims "nothing to see here." When it comes to this IRS scandal.

Given all of the info that is out there now, do you believe that high level employees at the IRS specifically targeted conservatives? If you dont, please tell us how you drew that conclusion.

One Congressman suggested they ask the NSA to search their metadata banks for the emails.
The NSA is here to protect the people

And yet another lie from the White House ....

    http://news.yahoo.com/white-house-irs-made-good-faith-effort-e-190720647--politics.html

The IRS says the emails to and from the official, Lois Lerner, disappeared when her computer crashed in 2011.

I did some tech development in my past life so I must be missing something. So what if her computer crashed. I've had laptops die on me but (1) I had a backup most of the time to get any lost data back (2) email is typically stored elsewhere, like on a server .. I have both Hotmail and Yahoo email accounts and I can log in from any computer to access my emails (3) I assume her email was something like lois.lerner@IRS.gov .. if so, I'd think every email she ever sent or received is recoverable. (4) I'd think the government would do backups most likely on a daily basis.

So any tech geeks or gurus please explain how it is even remotely possible that these emails are actually lost.
