People take a few minutes away from American Idol or surfing porn or whatever...........and get over to FairTax.org. There is NO BETTER idea out there for Federal taxes. There is no reason citizens have to take this shit. Tell your senators and rep that he will not get your vote in Nov. unless he's for the FairTax. Bringing the FairTax in is the 1st step to repairing the damage that these political hacks have caused. It will at least put a cap on the revenue that they can bring in in addition to putting an end to IRS horror stories. This has got to be the 1st step.
Sorry, but compared to the FairTax, VAT just plain sucks. It taxes every stage of production. It is much more complex and is typically hidden from the retail consumer. It also can be in addition to an income tax. The FairTax is extremely simple. So simple, that it would be very difficult for the Feds to raise your taxes, since it would effect EVERYONE.
dude..do the math...everyone with income > 250K already paying 50% i prefer to spend MY money on MY useless waste, rather see, how the government pisses them away on shit like ethanol programs or $400 gallon gas for Humvee..tax me even more and would prefer NOT to work anymore, because it will make no sense... here is some tax 101 for ya- Bar Stool Economics Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers", he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20". Drinks for the ten now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his "fair share?" They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. http://www.wisebread.com/bar-stool-economics-0
Well actually, the first step should be the implementation of term limits, but I'll take them in whatever order they come. How many IRS terror stories are the people going to endure before they "snap" and force some change? All those stories we've all heard are totally unnecessary. The IRS is a terror organization and should be abolished. The IRS is a far greater threat to the well being of the average U.S. citizen than all the radical Islamist groups in the world. (Our military is doing a fine job as regards our safekeeping.) Now, we need protection from the IRS. I long for their extinction. Don't you? www.fairtax.org
Highest income tax rate in US is %36 and that applies only to the top bracket not the whole income. Which cave have you been sleeping in? It has to be at least %50 aboev $500K. Alas, that money goes to luxury and waste whereas millions can not pay their tuition or electricty bills. Rich people should be taxed even more. VAT sucks and VAT represents inequality. Only an idiot would defend taxing everyone at the same rate.
It's not just Federal Income Tax... but rather ALL taxes. Top total tax rate could be >70% for some.... Federal, State, SS + Medicare (employee's AND employer's share for self-employed), Local Property Tax, Sales Tax...
Who cares about other taxes? Other taxes have different purposes. Let's not mix apples and oranges here.
No. The point is that many of us are ALREADY working for the government.. with > 50% of our earnings confiscated in taxes. And does it really bother you any less to pay a tax to someone other than the Feds? In any case, you're still out the money and Government at one level or another has it.
i'm not sleeping..i'm paying those taxes...federal tax,state tax,local tax,real estate tax,school tax,sales tax..sum it up.do the math
Our current tax system PUNISHES achievement. Why not have a system of taxation that encourages achievement and allows you to determine how much and when you pay taxes? The FairTax would overnight make the U.S. the #1 tax haven in the world. Companies & individuals would bring back Trillions that are currently in other countries (est. is $8T). No more dealing with the IRS. Just the other day I had to make a call to the IRS to correct a simple problem. I timed the hold, 30 damn minutes. After I got through, I was told I had to try back in a couple days, because they had computer issues. Second call back, 20 minutes on hold.
