To a double-amputee whose injuries were used for the financial and political gain of a cut-and-paste sleaze bag? No, not at all...
yeah because hes got the slightest chance of seein' 'em...never mind the fact moore hasnt got that kinda money.
How quickly the right wingers forget the attack on Max Cleland, a triple amputee and war hero, by the "slim boaters" and how they of course said nothing.... Maybe MM hires those same scumbags to dig up dirt on this guy who has filed suit....
Zzzzz, please remind us all of the circumstances involving Max Cleland. Was he featured in a right-wing movie and his statements taken out of context to support the right-wing agenda?
Of course they can (afaik editing was not involved though), but if this case ever goes to trial everyone will start suing everyone else for $85mln for taking interviews/words/quotes etc out of context. For this kind of money or even a slim chance to collect this kind of money everyone whose words appear in a magazine, newspaper, movie or on TV will claim to be "misinterpreted" and will sue.
speaking of context... do you recall this??? are you no longer a moderator? well everyone, here is "Mr Context's" true colors: Quote from Pabst: I believe killing an Israeli civilian in peacetime is as great a crime as killing one of our troops in war. I realize you're a bit of an anti-semite. I can dig that. But anytime we can find any excuse to take out a bunch of Arabs, I'm all for it. I'd just do more bombing and a lot less occupying and rebuilding.
Heh, not frivolous to us Republicans, but very frivolous to liberals. Yet another example of the widespread liberal hysteria.
Care to be more specific? All I recall about Cleland was he was running for the Senate and somehow thought he was immune from criticism for holding up the Homeland Security bill to force concessions for unions.
Is this amnesia on the right? Cleland was stumping for Kerry in the 2004 election, and was routinely "slime boated" by Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, et al.... Limbaugh claimed Republicans didn't challenge Cleland's patriotism in 2002 Radio host Rush Limbaugh attempted to undermine Teresa Heinz Kerry's explanation that she left the Republican Party in 2002 out of anger over attacks by the Senate campaign of Republican Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) on the patriotism of the then-incumbent senator, Max Cleland (D-GA), a Vietnam veteran who lost three limbs during that war. On the June 15 Rush Limbaugh Show, Limbaugh asserted, "[T]hat's not what the Republicans did, but the Democrats portrayed it that way": LIMBAUGH: he [Teresa Heinz Kerry] claims they -- they -- Republican Saxby Chambliss tarnished and challenged, Cleland's patriotism. He's a -- he's a multiple amputee from the Vietnam war, and -- and -- and that's not what the Republicans did, but the Democrats portrayed it that way... Heinz Kerry's comments were reported by the Associated Press on June 14. As the article indicated, "The GOP had raised questions about Cleland's patriotism because of his position on legislation to create the Department of Homeland Security." Chambliss aired advertisements against Cleland that featured footage of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. As the Orlando Sentinel reported on June 13 and as Media Matters for America noted, "Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and John McCain of Arizona -- both Vietnam veterans -- were so irate that they complained to their party about the ads until the Saddam and bin Laden photos were removed."
