What qualifies us to be the world authority on who gets nuclear power? So we were first, that doesn't give us supreme authority to decide who gets what and when. Our government, especially Congress, is arguably the most unstable government of all first world countries. We have, for decades, caused disruption, chaos, and all sorts of interference in order to topple governments around the world. For what? Money and power, nothing else. There are no clean hands in the mideast fuck story, and ours are among the dirtiest. All of our meddling comes at a price. We created the shitshow ON PURPOSE.
Cap'n, the problem with your position is that it assumes all actors are rational actors. Religious fundamentalists (among some others) are fine with mutual destruction, they know where they're going so suicide is worth it.
Well, there are always the random lunatics to gum up the works. I don't want to see a nuclear war, or any other kind of war, but when people start arguing that the United States has some kind of moral authority over all other nations I'm not buying that, especially considering all the bullshit we have caused while meddling around the world. Oh, and the Christian fundamentalists are also certain of where they're going, so they say. We're doomed if the radicals on either side are going to make the final decisions.
And now for something completely different... check out Chris Hedges. He's no friend of the common liberal. (Hedges has appeared on Dore's show.) Papering Over The Rot I run into a few conservatives at Breitbart who read and appreciate Hedges, and Glenn Greenwald.
that's a great piece, Ricter. Thank you for posting. A shame more on the right AND left don't look at things this way, and instead focus only on "team", when the only team that matters is actually fellow man.
let's be honest tho, Greenwald done and lost his goddamn mind cuz ppl didn't agree with him over Russia. I think some cons would like Vaush's takes on things even if he's a commie.
