The plane looked like it turned but I think it was disabled either from a missle/bomb or engine explosion. the fact that it was filmed so conveniently makes me so suspicious but an engine explosion seems very plausible. Missle strike - accident and no one will claim responsibility and will take months to recreate fuselage to determine a strike point. Bomb - I think even in this day and age still unlikely. Engine explosion - the video does show a light brighter than navigational signals, perhaps a trail of fire out the engine and then explosion but wouldnt pilots notice that?
Site of crash has jurisdiction over investigation so Iran owns it and will study tapes and release info per international agreement. Ukraine will send their investigation teams as this kind of cooperation on aviation crashes happens often. US has volunteered to send investigators due to expertise and interests of Boeing but Iran said No Thanks. I don't doubt Iran will do a thorough investigation with Ukraine and Russia cooperating so the truth will come out.
OK watched the video again and the filming shows a small ball of light, not normal on a plane before the flash and then 2-3 seconds later the crash. I believe truly this was an accident, especially the timing of when the crash occurred. This was a new plane and Boeing 737-800 has great safety record if taken care of properly. Not to be rude but not sure if Iran and Ukraine are taking same care on maintenance on engines as other parts of the world. Only thing I doubt is Iran's claim pilot made no comment or emergency request because if there was a small ball of fire they would notice and say something into the com as it was happening. If not the Black Box mike in the cockpit will pick it up and no doubt the Black Box is already in possession and will have info within 3 days.
I dont think the owner of the aircraft owns the black box. the Black Box was not created to serve a private purpose. Black Boxes and all information is taken by local government agencies and there is an international treaty or agreement to conduct investogations or send them to another government agency that will analyze and release all the information to the public in the justification of public safety. FAA has cooperated on numerous global crashes. If a private entity could grab them and hold them they would never release info that might show they were negligent. Neither BOEING nor Ukraine Airlines nor the financial owner of the plane owns the Black Box. It does not belong to anyone but the public for use in investigations and discovering causes and preventing future accidents or negligence. Why do you think pilots are so careful what they say or have gotten in trouble for things, the cockpit recorder.
The real issue is who is entitled to have copies of the data captured by the black box. If Iran argues that they have the right to maintain possession and control for investigative purposes, well, that is okay so far. But if they refuse to give Canada, the Ukraine, and Boeing equal access or somehow fail in their duty to get the black box to one of the few countries that can analyze, well then, that would be where the needle on the bullshitomer begins to move a little. They have already made it clear that they are not going to give it to either the United States or Boeing for analysis.....so it is getting a little snakey already. I dont believe Iran is one of the three or four countries that has the means of analyzing it. Google seems to say it would be the U.S., Britain, France and Germany. We shall see.
Maybe I’m missing the whole point of this discussion but what business is it of ours? If they want help analyzing the data from the blackbox then fine, if they don’t, que sera’ sera’.
I think there is strong international law and treaties governing this. If Iran decided to block Ukraine, Canada and others 100% from accessing the Black Boxes or looking at the investigation I would believe these countries can impose airline sanctions against Iranian airlines flying into their airspace or their countries for violating international agreements on sharing accident information or conducting open investigations. Hellfire would reign down on them from all over so I am pretty sure Iran is not going to stonewall or hide anything.
It was a Boeing airplane or you don't like to read...you know ...Boeing...the same manufacturer who makes most of the planes we all fly on. Did you think the Being 737-MAX was none of our business because mostly brown people died? or did the investigation ground an entire fleet of planes that was unsafe.... We have a huge interest to know the results or that at least they are going to be analyzed and made public. Seriously...sometimes the shit you say..
