Tom Cotton (R-Arkan-yeehaw-sas) claims Obama is suffocating our enemies! (And goes Godwin, too, in his first Senate speech.)

It Took Tom Cotton Less Than A Minute To Invoke Hitler In First Senate Speech
    Posted: 03/16/2015 10:10 pm EDT

"WASHINGTON -- It's hard to believe freshman Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) caused such a stir in the Senate with his letter to Iran even before his maiden floor speech. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who led an unsuccessful fight against Obamacare, couldn't even do that.

"But Cotton -- now famous for orchestrating the controversial letter to Iran with the signatures of 46 of his GOP colleagues -- finally got the chance to do just that on Monday evening. Cotton began, as one does, with Adolf Hitler.

"The world is growing ever more dangerous, and our defense spending is wholly inadequate to confront the danger," Cotton said. "To be exact, during the last four or five years, the world has grown gravely darker. We have steadily disarmed, partly with a sincere desire to give a lead to other countries and partly due to the severe financial pressure of the time. But a change must now be made. We must not continue longer on a course in which we alone are growing weaker while every other nation is growing stronger."

"He continued: "I wish I could take credit for those eloquent but ominous words, but I cannot. Winston Churchill sounded that warning in 1933 as Adolf Hitler had taken power in Germany. Tragically, Great Britain and the West didn't heed this warning, when they might have strangled that monster in his crib. Rather they let the locust continue to eat away at the common defense."

"Cotton lamented that President Barack Obama was apologizing for America's actions, and accused the administration of being "harsh and unyielding to our friends" and "soothing and suffocating to our enemies."

"Cotton's speech came as congressional Republicans begin to craft their annual budget blueprint for the next fiscal year. War hawks like Cotton are pushing to increase defense spending, putting them at odds with fiscal conservatives, who would rather stick within spending limits set by both parties in 2011."

Russia Lifts Ban On Sending Missiles To Iran, Kremlin Says

MOSCOW, April 13 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday paved the way for long-overdue missile system deliveries to Iran and Moscow started an oil-for-goods swap with Tehran, showing the Kremlin's determination to boost economic ties with the Islamic Republic.

The moves come after world powers, including Russia, reached an interim deal with Iran on curbing its nuclear program and signal that Moscow may have a head-start in the race to benefit from an eventual lifting of sanctions on Tehran.

The Kremlin said Putin signed a decree lifting Russia's own ban on the delivery of S-300 anti-missile rocket system to Iran, removing a major irritant between the two after Moscow canceled a corresponding contract in 2010 under pressure from the West.

Ryabkov also suggested Russia had high hopes that its steady support for Iran would pay off in energy cooperation once international sanctions against the Islamic republic are lifted.

"It takes two to tango. We are ready to provide our services and I am sure they will be pretty advantageous compared to other countries," he said. "We never gave up on Iran in a difficult situation... Both for oil and gas, I think the prospects for our cooperation should not be underestimated."

wow... leftists like db going apoplectic when they realize Romney was right and that Russia is our major geopolitical foe.

With a simple move, once again, Putin shows Obama and Clinton/Kerry to be absolute geopolitical clowns (sad ones really) ... once again.

In the past with others as President it looked like we were playing Chess and Russia was the pigeon you should not play with because of what it could do the board.

Now Putin is showing Obama and the dems to be the Pigeons.

Why the hell would anyone want to give nukes to Iran if they were on our team? ever?

  7. Romeny was as wrong as obama has been. Obama went out of his way to insult Putin and Russia. Who knew a marxist red diaper baby like obama longed to restart the Cold War, but obama could not let it rest after putin cracked down on homos at the olympics.

Then we thought it was a good idea to orchestrate a coup in Ukraine.

Russia was not a threat to us and could have been a very helpful quasi-ally. Now idiot Obama has turned it into a bitter foe, not that the McCain/braindead wing of the republican party will be complaining.

    Blowback?

More like the new normal. Obama is being undermined and ignored all across the board, right down the local sheriff level. I know in southern california there are counties who have refused to comply with Obama executive orders on immigration. The Feds can't do a damned thing about it.

Arizona is about to consider legislation that effectively makes compliance with any executive action illegal unless it has been approved by Congress. That is as low as any president can go. Obama has been recognized for what he is and is being shut down a bit early for our protection.

Iran isn't the only country being told that deals with Obama aren't going to be honored going forward.
