Christians have progressed in 2000 years. Muslims have not. Just look at the US versus the "cradle of civilization" any where in the Middle East. If it wasn't for oil they would still be eating camel dung sandwiches. The Islam religion is headed for the trash heap of history. Just like Nazism, Fascism etc etc. it will take 100 years but it will be eradicated as the caner it is on humanity. The civilized world has many weapons at it's disposal. We will not allow ourselves to be destroyed. Even a so-called "moderate" will not recognize Israel's existences. To strap a bomb on a 16 year old kid and send him into a sandwich shop to blow up other 16 year old children is A SICK DEMENTED ACT BELOW HUMANITY. I would say they are like dogs but I don't want to insult dogs SteveD
SteveD I think you might be mixing chalk and cheese ending up with a dog's dinner. Christians have no choice but be forced toward progress during the last 2000 years, simply by not being able to adopt a Christian theocratic religious system. Islam has always been a theocratic religious system. That's the problem Muslims face. Secular Law & Government values are what has and does develop values in the West . Christian Religions, ( many that there are), may have found some values, but before any of them might be considered for inclusion as a basis for progress, they first are scrutinized for what they mean - and not because they are religious - under a secular process , in order to ascertain there are likely to be beneficial outcomes. It's because Christian values (and religion generally) is separated away from government , progress is made. Muslims do not have that option. Unless they move to the West or substitute Islam for a Secular Law base.
not really... their main problem is there is still a lot of bad blood and unfinished business between the sunnis and the shias, despite efforts from their respective religious heads... still havent had their vatican II either... need to water down the sharia and other sections of the criminal code... public beheadings dont go down too well in the 21st century... that sort of stuff... at the same time its not so long ago that one cld get lynched for stealing a horse... where was that again steveD mate?? ;-)
.....I don't altogether agree. Their main problem is they have distinctly differing views on what is right and wrong Law according to God and Islam and therefore in an Islamic theocracy. They are at loggerheads because they cannot decide between themselves what God says . That is fundamentally their unfinished business. Economic problems and cultural rules piled on top of that, make ideal battlegrounds for their religious heads, leaders, mullahs and clerics in general to strut around on. Were it so that Christians were allowed to do the same and it was up to evangelists and the rest to war between themselves in order to impose what God was supposed to be ordering then, there would no doubt be a fairly similar set up. However, the West fortunately saw the light centuries ago and applied Secular method of governing. That's how it eventually became known that the application of violent atrocity according to God's Word, was not a sound basis for good rule and government
Who forced the Christians to adopt a system that became secular. Your history is so skewed it is strange. I have proven over and over on these threads that that the U.S. was not secular until arguably the 20th century. Stu will not accept as authority the Supreme Court of the U.S. delcaring it so. He will not accept that a majority of states endorsed religion at the time of the constitutional convention. He will not allow any fact contrary to his fantasy to invade his thought process or his writing. In a land completley dominated by Christians the Christians chose to set up a country which allowed competing ideas, competing religions and secularism to flourish. Christians created the U.S. and the idea of democracy and the movement towards freedom from kings and self determination sprang for the Protestant reformation. Hence the influence of Locke and Rousseau on Jefferson and the declaration of independance. And that we are endowed by a creator with inalienable rights. A creator whom jefferson later declared to be the God of Abraham Issac and Jacob. And regardless of your incorrect and historically revised definition of Diesm, there is no argument that the people of the U.S. were profoundly Christian, yet they supported others rights to worship and eventually allowed the faith of athiesm to flourish. By the way my recent thread shows that science has proven athiesm to be a faith based mind set.
separation of church and state... a complex matter anyway... interesting recap here fyi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state whatsya claim about atheism being 'scientifically' proven to be faith-based etc pal??
My prediction is when push comes to shove, US will launch missles to destroy Iran's nuke labs. If in the first strike it is not convinced that labs are destroyed, the second or third wave will be tactical nuclear alternative. Iran's best option will to keep quiet and go about its usual business or risk total devastation of its economic, social and military infrastructure. Only few days left for UN's deadline and then it will be only a matter of time before Iranian labs are blown up. I feel much sympathy for Iranian people who are facing double whammy from Mullahs and the US. It is upto them to remove the fanatics from power and light up Tehran with nuclear generated electricity......if I am not wrong, Tehran used to be called the Paris of Asia before 1979 Mullah revolution. Rich country, rich culture, educated people.....the only problem is the Mullahs.
It wasn't that long ago that us enlightened christians were burning people at the stake -- for witchcraft.
You mean Israel, unilaterally, after crippling Hamas. That's it, just bankrupt Iran, bomb it, over and over until they have no revenue left to rebuild. To me the Muslim religion is a peaceful one, but what I don't understand is, why they are quiet about the horrible acts created by the Islamic fascists who have hijacked their religion? Why they don't condemn those acts of terror, the killing of innocent lives? Why the silence?
