  1. Not surprising. I spend a lot of my life confused. I'm not the sharpest stick in the bundle... I'll run "price sentinel" thru Bing to see if I can figure things out.

  2. You don't want one, great . . . don't buy one.
I like the idea of having the compactness of the tablet but having everything a laptop gives me.
I don't know of anyone that needs 50GB of RAM or 100 open ports. Having 4GB of RAM and the same number of ports as a laptop is a great feature for me.
If you read the media, Steve 'is" interested in shooting toward the business market as well as the social market. He hit a home run with the latter and missed it by a mile on the former.
Apple has the ability to his a home run with both and only time will tell if that can be accomplished.

Saying a laptop beats a tablet without trying it speaks for itself.

I find it less hard to believe after seeing some of the awesome iPhone apps they have for trading with certain brokers. I love zecco's mobile app. It would be more awesome on an iPad with even more features.

  5. once again you guys are bitching about stuff the ipad was never intended for. It's lightweight easy to use tablet for browsing, email, movie/video, and some fun apps. Which satisfies the vast majority of the general populace computer needs.

The only thing that drives me nuts is the lack of flash support, I just started development using adobe flex recently, coming from java and google gwt ui, adobe flash development is at least a decade ahead with a very rich ui that can be deployed rapidly using any backend - a developer's wet dream. Build it once, run it everywhere - except ipad/iphone!

Forcing iphone/ipad not support flash is purely steve job masterbating his own ego and protect app profit from online flashgames. All that concern about performance is bs considering how powerful the ipad and iphone hardware is now.

  6. Just curious -- what use do you have for Adobe tools in research and trading? I'm drawing a blank.

Re "never intended for": Exactly right -- a chef has many types of knives, one for each purpose.

This is a deal killer. Next!

"It's also definitely not a tablet to go travelling with.

There's another reason why you won't want to stray too far from home with the Slate: its formidable computing power eats up battery life like nobody's business. It depends on what you're doing, but the Slate will usually only offer a couple of hours of use before the battery conks out."

  10. I'll give thumbs up for the ipad battery life. Does what it's designed to do and can last all day on single charge.
