I'd like to have an iPad when it can do everything that a laptop can do. I don't need a product just to "prove" I'm cool. (I'm already way too cool.)
I was hoping the 10 minutes Jobs spent talking about an $80 leather cover would have rather been spent talking about higher screen resolution, more RAM, and a new UI, but that's just me.
LOL ... forgot about that edit: OT but had to attach this. They were great <object width="320" height="240"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xas2fz?width=320&theme=eggplant&foreground=%23CFCFCF&highlight=%23834596&background=%23000000"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/xas2fz?width=320&theme=eggplant&foreground=%23CFCFCF&highlight=%23834596&background=%23000000" width="320" height="240" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object>
Ok, how is this not a problem for the ipad2 to not have a usb port? Also, pre-chewed yes. She likes me to chew a little bit at times.
There is a 30 pin adapter that allows you to add "ONE" device like a USB port at a time. Lame! I agree with BSAM, when the iPad does the same as a laptop I will consider it something other than a toy. The Asus Eeee Slate does.
why haven't i heard of the slate before this? everyone is talking about the XOOM but not the Slate? Is the Slate comparable to a high end lap? And cons to Slate?
The Xoom is an internet tablet that compares to a deficient iPad. The Asus Eee EP121 Slate is a business tablet that compares to fully functioning laptop. The general media isn't concerned with high end technology just like the average consumer isn't. This is a trader's website and I would like to think we are more concerned with tools that will make our lives easier and not toy media and social network tools like the iPad. In the next few years there will be a centrist point between internet tablets and business tablets that will come together and someone will make a truly amazing piece of equipment. Apple would be the best for doing that but as long as Jobs is involved, his arrogance won't allow that to happen. For now our choice is either a toy or a tool. I'm a trader and I like tools that make my job easier.
Have to disagree with you on this one. iPad is already a tool for some, and it will be more so. Obviously, trading is not on high list of any of these devices, since we are quite a minority as a group when compared to the rest.
I agree. What exactly do people want the i-pad to do that it doesn't already do? I'm not interested in spending 3k for a super i-pad that is basically a laptop. The i-pad is suppose to be a hybrid between the smart phone devices and a laptop. What exactly do you guys want this thing to do?
