From what I read, he was never convicted of wire fraud but he, along with a group of journalists was served subpoenas from the SEC (which he publicly tore up on TV) for disseminating false information in order to drive down stock prices regarding the company Dendreon. The subpoenas were never executed and Jim Cramer was never investigated. SEC, very strangely dropped its case very quickly and quietly. Here is SEC's report on this case: https://www.sec.gov/comments/s7-08-09/s70809-4614.pdf Jim Cramer has also publicly admitted on TV to blatant manipulation of security prices, either alone, or with collaboration from other hedge fund companies in the financial community when he was working as a hedge fund manager. To me these are indictable offenses that should've put him away for at least 10 years and yet SEC has chosen never to prosecute him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Cramer Personally with his admitted behaviour and questionable ethics, I would never park any of my money with him. And I never watch his show. I find his program lacking content and substance as far as investment advice is concerned this one time that I watched him by accident. I admit his program's entertainment value is quite high so it's fun to watch to unwind perhaps after a long day of trading but that's about it.
