Investing in Apple stock...a good idea?

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by James Blanco, Sep 1, 2016.

  1. I have read a couple of articles regarding the opportunity to invest in Apple shares...the ups and downs. The dividend scheme looks reliable, but there are a lot of pitfalls. Share your opinion with me

  2. No way. The Irish tax will slash the shares of this one trick pony. Stay away!

    A: Yes.

The "tax" is having no affect on AAPL stock at his moment. And unlikely will in the future.

I wouldn't touch the stock given the fact they derive most of their revenue from the iphone, that whole idea that they were creating a huge revenue stream with the watch is nonsense, the watch is another idea that was hyped by the media to get everyone worked up over the next big tech product, its going no where, if it was Apple would release figures but it's been quiet about those numbers since day one....back to the iphone, the new phone coming out is nothing game changing, the market is completely saturated with zero new ideas on how to innovate the smartphone, thinner faster with an upgraded camera are worthless upgrades, there is nothing different from the last few iphones, thinner and faster shouldn't wow people anymore...what I do see is everyone stuck to a landline in 2016 as nearly everyone I know carries their charger, put some of that $250 billion into R&D and create a battery that can last more than 18 hrs on heavy use. Nope, a smartphone that needs charging every 7 hrs is all we have.....sales of the iphone 7 will probably be good in the beginning as every launch does well but it won't be enough to keep the stock up.

That's tough to say...its funny how all these giants know how to work around the loopholes, they have been in Ireland for a long time, just imagine how many hundreds of billions they have saved by setting up overseas rather than the US.

Only if you're shorting it, the high looks like ~125, all the way down to 60 next target! The Irish tax problem is irrelevant, it's 3months profits. Their problem is a society change and they have no new products coming onstream so trying to move to services to capture more revenue. Here's the secret sauce, notice the high 2012/13 and lower high 2015!

  8. I agree with that. The back tax is, of course, an issue. But not for the stock matters. Like Cook called it : total political crap haha:D

It maybe a little late to get in now as I think the current trend is slightly down. You should follow and read this thread:

If you did a few months ago, (May or Jun entries) you could long AAPL (or AAPL options) @ around $90 and exit now.
