I'd trade the front month... More volume/liquidity means better fills. Slippage will kill the short term trader. Trending strategies work great for corn - when it's not range trading. It's not finding a good trend strategy that's the problem... the trick is knowing when to play it. If you figure that out, please let me know. Just food for thought.
