Intraday trading of corn

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by Robertwiz, Jul 5, 2012.

  1. Hello,

I am interested possibly engaging in intraday trend trading of grain futures, most likely corn and am wondering the following:

    1. When trading corn intraday, how do you decided which month to trade?

    2. How well does corn trend intraday?

    Thanks

  2. I'd trade the front month... More volume/liquidity means better fills. Slippage will kill the short term trader.

Trending strategies work great for corn - when it's not range trading. It's not finding a good trend strategy that's the problem... the trick is knowing when to play it. If you figure that out, please let me know.

Just food for thought. See what some others have to say on it, I'm mostly here to learn.

  3. intra day is one thing

but most position traders trade July Wheat

    Dec Corn

    and November beans

as far as corn goes December is the month you need to back everything up with
