INTRA-DAY stock scanners?

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by mdl060374, Jul 7, 2004.

  1. ener555, I know Trading-ideas has top gainers/losers. As for the other stuff, did you ask them? If they don't have it, they are likely to add something that will handle your needs, and in less than a couple months :)

  2. I found the combination of stockwatch pro and quote.com to be unworkable. Although the programmability is great and scanning for end of day works, intraday scans just become downright annoying.

  3. Any software that scans data that is resident on your computer, such as stockwatch pro or erlangerquote, just dont work if you are scanning a larger list of stocks intraday.

  4. I have sent requests to trade-ideas and they respond very quickly. I had asked them to add the filter for the number of times an alert takes place and it was added in less than 3 days. I looked at what you are looking for and not to sound crazy but their current product already does what you want in both cases...

HotScans will show you the biggest movers in the last 5 minutes. You can't specify $ change, but you can do it with % change. It also does gaps, and gainers and loosers for many different intraday time frames. No programing involved.

  6. I took the bait and came up with how the tool can answer your requests. See if I came close (it was a leisure day today):

    1. I wanna see stocks which make a substantial move in a short period so I can see there might be something going on.

Try this: Explosive Upwards - http://www.trade-ideas.com/View.php...0&MinVWV=0.4&MinFOD=0.1&WN=Explosive+Moves+Up

Try this: Explosive Downwards - http://www.trade-ideas.com/View.php...MinVWV=0.4&MaxFOD=.01&WN=Explosive+Moves+Down

    2. Also I can't find a filter that shows me stock that gap down a certain amount and then are moving up to fill the gap.

    Try this: http://www.trade-ideas.com/View.php?O=200000000_3d_0&MinGDP=5&WN=Gap+Down+and+then+Fills+the+Gap

    3. Third, a top gainers / losers list would be nice.

    Try this: http://www.trade-ideas.com/View.php...D=10&QPDD=10&WN=Gainers+and+Losers+10%+and+Up

I looked at the History of these alerts and backtested the results (using the History link) with my charts. Others who subscribe can judge the results as well. i like them so much I'll use them tomorrow.

I've been using Neovest's First alert for about 4 years, with my own scans.....love the product and flexibility, as I can implement almost any idea i've come up with, typically within 15 minutes....

programming language is straightforward....only draw back is absence of backtesting, which could be done on another platform...on the pricey side, but worth it for me

Thanks everybody. I talked to the guy at Trade Ideas and they are very responsive. He's gonna look into my requests. I'll also check out the links you guys provided.

    Thanks again.

I found marketgauge is pretty much the same as Yahoo
    Intraday's Market Leader & Laggard.

I am interesting to see some scanner like stockwatchpro that could filter more on detailed TA basis(stoch,OBV,RSI,etc),but apparently swp only works with esignal/qchart which i don't use.

I was using esignal market scanner and it's disappointing as i could find the same data from daytrading.com or yahoo finance
    (except for rally).

I am just looking for simple(probably web based),doesn't need additional software, advance filtering based on TA(like SWP)
    and cheap :)

    Somebody pls help ...
