Internet Service during power outages

  1. This will probably be the only time NYC gets the hurricane and not me (Miami).

I live in CT in the summer, so if NYC gets another hurricane, then I'll know to be long Iran's new currency.

  2. You are lucky you weren't here. It's a disaster. I ended up doing a systematic shutdown of the hardware I could get to or physically control. No sense in running a generator, wasting fuel and taking on risk running servers when the internet is down.

If it was a moon tide last year for Irene this would have been two of these disasters two years in a row.

Just as an FYI, cellular and/or 3G/4G service stayed up but it was so painfully slow that it wasn't even worth it. I went out to try and buy one of those Verizon 4G little hotspot bricks but they were all sold out. Internet is getting back online in places but still cell service is really slow and glitchy. I wouldn't ever want to be trading on a cellular or wireless service during a storm like that.
