  2. Do a search for a program called Anyspeed 1.1 or 1.3

    The actual software company that produced it no longer has it available at their site but there still seems to be plenty of sites around that offer it for download.

    You can tell it to use a .wav file of your choice to alert you when the connection goes down.

    i'm trying DU Meter right now and it rocks.

    very low profile. doesn't take up any resources and it is very simple and efficient....thanks guys!
