Attend industry events, such as http://pbhfa.org/, to build out your Rolodex. You won't meet prospective mentors by clacking away on a computer in your basement.
there is a bunch of geniuses on this thread. mira is a female name, which nobody caught. maybe in her culture it is not so easy to get out of the basement. my guess she is brave for posting.
Don't know. I'm on their mailing list but haven't attended any of their events. Also, in NY, Chicago and some other cities QWAFAFEW is good.
The doctors were wrong, try washing down the pain meds with Jim Bean, the meds kick in faster. The only bad thing is a misplaced that assistant you sent over, think she not too bright when I told her to go chase a bus, DON'T send me any more of your assistants - am not into Hermaphrodites on parole.
First thing is that you need to add value to your employer-- what value add do you offer to someone who may offer you an internship?
Good point. By the way intern is the new full time employee with garbage benefits. I can count half dozen international investment banks in my town who hardly employ junior full time employees anymore but staff all those positions with interns. It's frigging crazy and should be illegal. Those interns are rolled, meaning, after a year they are told "sorry guys we don't have a full time job for you, times are tough, please leave". The day after they have a fresh intern sitting in the exact same seat. It's really fucked up and takes opportunities and jobs away from a young generation that needs those jobs to start and have families. Who wants to have kids with this uncertainty? Women for sure not. We should not be surprised why birth rates in Western countries are so low.
