At random times when I have only one integrated stock window open or only 1 market depth trader window open I get an error msg saying "concurrent windows displaying market depth are limited by 40." It thinks I have over 40 windows open when I only have 1 or 2 open. This makes using TWS to day trade with almost impossible for my style of trading. After 35 days of phone calls and emails no one can fix the problem and a new order ticket was created last week, but no one in support has "claimed it yet", what ever this means I dont know.
sounds like another example of lousy programming and releasing the build without any Q&A my guess that problem is very simple -the market depth form is not unloading properly, when you close it. they having same problem with charts from time to time. you open market depth, then you close it,but TWS "thinks" that this window is still open.
For reasons unrelated to TWS I just reinstalled Windows on another PC and did a clean install of the latest version(932.2). And just as happened when doing the same thing as mentioned above I get the order confirmation pop up when modifying an order to a new price in BookTrader's BID/ASK column. I don't get the order confirmation message if I modify the BID/ASK price in the order column. And just now I upgraded to 932.2 on a third computer over 930.4 and I don't get the order comfirmation. So, it looks as though after doing a clean installation BookTrader can't remember the 'Don't show this pop up dialog again' when modifying the order's price in the BID/ASK column.
James, regarding the post below, TWS now requires you to qualify the SMART exchange with an actual exchange, e.g. instead of this: DES,IBM,STK,SMART,,,,, you need this: DES,IBM,STK,SMART/ARCA,,,,, The reason is that the first one does not uniquely identify a contract. It could mean IBM on NYSE or it could mean IBM on FWB. We'll update TWS shortly to give an error in this situation instead of loading all possible quote lines.
aren't' that's why we have to specify currency? when you do- IBM,SMART,USD-this mean that you trading US stock,on US exchange with US currency..now if you put EUR-then it suppose to tell IB that you looking to trade IBM on FWB
So as I only trade stocks on NYSE/NASDAQ do I just set it to SMART/ISLAND for all (e.g GOOG IBM, PFE, AAPL, SNDK) ? Also if I'm saying SMART/ISLAND what does the SMART do will it still fill on the best price for any exchnage say BATS e.t.c
On friday, the 15 sec and 1 minute charts were not updating correctly for ES and NQ, and some other stock symbols. I noticed following: 1) On 15 sec charts, sometimes it didn't advance the bar. It just stayed on the old bar and kept updating it. If I clicked on some other contract and clicked back, then I saw the new bars. 2) On 15 and 1 min charts, I would see the bar expand on a new high or new low for that period, but then the bar would contract if the price when the other way. It should have retained the low and high. I updated TWS last week, and I started seeing these bugs after that. i don't know who or how IB did come up with idea of buttons, that are automatically removed from TWS,if they are not used for whatever time, but this is just plain stupid. i hope that those geniuses tried that and truly understated how their creation works. just in case if they didn't i will explain it here..you not using one account for couple weeks, then you login into your TWS and all shit that you used all the time for your trading is now GONE. you have to dig down into configuration,to add those buttons back... genius indeed..since you put this in-please,do us a favor-add button to DISABLE IT and notify us,where to find it. Thank you!
