No broker pays "compensation" for adverse market moves during service outages. Read your customer agreement.
Just called customer service and was brought to a message explaining they are experiencing a site wide outage causing users unable to login to their platforms among other things.
so brokers only entitle to charge us for commissions and have no responsibility whatsoever? fantastic
Every broker has you sign an electronic trading disclosure warning. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=297 I recommend having a back-up broker.
Phones still work ? At ox/Schwab when we had hiccups we eliminated phone fees and put all hands on the phones. oX actually didn't have a phone charge - Schwab did so we waived it. No matter how you read the agreement I would still reach out to FINRA. Opportunity profits are a pipedream, but until you know what went wrong you can't be a 100% certain about broker liability - especially if they are down over some negligent act.
By user accounts, it had issues 1-2 hours before market closed. And then 10 min after it closed, it works again. The timing is quite something. Happened on a friday with options expiration too. Can you imagine this happening on the big quad witching OPEX?
