Interactive Brokers and Linux on a Chromebook

  1. Apparently, I can emulate Linux on a Chromebook Pixel (nice box, btw) without too much of a learning curve; I am a tech newbie. But once I do this will I be able to run IB? Easy? Anyone ever done it?

  2. Although, I love Linux for what it is. It's just always better to run software on the OS it was designed to run on. Kinda got tired of the constant issues with Linux...nothing wrong with Linux itself, but after fixing this and that it gets annoying after a while and you just want something that works. Gentoo, Arch, was a pain...

I have run TWS on MacOSX, Linux, Sun Solaris and HP-UX. Works well, just make sure to use Oracles official Java runtime which is the same for all platforms.

  4. The choice of gentoo and arch is masochistic if you're not into bleeding edge / hard to do.

Mint or Ubuntu would be better for a trading machine . Should be boring and stable even on a chromebook. TWS will be fine on Linux but why not try running it browser based on the chromebook ?

  5. that must be a big distraction from the making-the-money part.
this is not a computer science quiche eating class.
