Interactive broker vs TD Ameritrade vs Speed trader vs lightspeed .... Which one for Daytrading?

Discussion in 'Retail Brokers' started by Tradesuperstocks, Mar 6, 2019.

  1. Go for IB or Lightspeed. But if you don't do a lot of volume, probably IB as there is a software charge at lightspeed (no rebate if volume low).

We offer the ones on the routing link. https://www.lightspeed.com/pricing/routing-fees/

I'm not a big fan of dark pools but LSPD Dark Assault scrapes a few dark pools.

  4. Linux? Both ToS and TWS run natively on Ubuntu Linux. How about LS?

LS Trader, Sterling Trader Pro, CBOE Silexx & Realtick are all WIN OS platforms. The Realtick API offers Linux too. LS Trader also has a MAC OS version but it needs an update. I recommend MAC users use Parallels Desktop.

  6. Oh. Too bad. Looks pretty good for WinDOHs users, though. Thanks for the reply, Robert. I looked, but didn't find it in the LightSpeed FAQ.

The thread was about what is best for day traders. I'm going to avoid pointing out what I consider other brokers don't have and focus on what we do best. We offer choice.

LS Trader is really fast. Switching charts from symbol to symbol seem instantaneous. Same with hot keys and hot buttons. The order imbalance, block trade and time and sales windows do not lag.

Sterling Trader Pro is the most popular software with prop firms that support day traders. They love it for a reason. Very fast and configurable.

Realtick is a professional grade platfrom with what I'm told by users the best charting they have ever used with a server side pairs trader and conditional orders. My hedge fund clients like the API. We offer it to RIAs that need post trade allocation. It supports multiple brokers-you can use one platfrom and execute with other clearing brokers.

CBOE Silexx IMO is the best options software I have ever used. Just that simple. It supports multiple brokers too.

My account was recently (early feb) moved to Lightspeed. That includes transfer of around 60 equity and options positions. For one month there where problems with positions (different size, different products). Additional to that they are not even able to calculate correct P/L for feb and march. So these thing is still unresolved (1,5 month and counting).
Conclusion is that their support is absolutely worst I could imagine.
I strongly advice everyone to stay away from them.

  10. Now I don't feel so left out. I wanted to give them a try but they don't support my operating system and I would never use WinDOHs or Mac even on a dare. But I bet your problem gets fixed soon.
