I am trying to get used to the order entry routines in TWS and have a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to explain. A single short contract on the ES tells me the value is 149,262.50USD. Wtf does that mean? See screenshot. Equity with loan. What's that? Basically the only thing I understand is the 'margin' and commission part. Cheers.
Amount is $50 X 2985. 25 (monetary value of total contract) Equity with loan is your dollars + the dollars IB loans to you. (range between 2 to portfolio margin)
It means you're trying to work the markets when they are in HALT status, which is effectively the same as closed. That's why there is no data? Just a guess in that IB's systems don't know how to calculate anything where there is no market data? *shrugs* Call your customer service number and ask them. *giggle*
