How is that? Say one side of the coin for divinity, one isn't and the rim represents terra incognita .That would not be either or situation. However, unlike the information already known about coins, it is not even known if the rim being looked at from under the table is the part of a coin. It isn't known whether there is an underneath which is being observed. Are you sure your analogy is a particularly good one?
By your definition a description it is then, not the literal machines you want. ATP synthase is a nucleotide. It is derived from nucleic acids. It is a chemical reaction. That is to say there are basic substances, not yet in the form of your "molecular machines" being changed into other substances by reaction to each other. The process may appear to then produce something which is considered machine like, but they cannot be the literal molecular machines you would like them to be. Literal machines do not create or reproduce themselves as ATP synthase does. Furthermore, leave all the molecules of a Buick engine block inside the factory in any form you like, they will not arrange themselves into an L8 motor by chemical reaction. Where you have the nucleotides present inside the cell "factory" they will create / reproduce the ATP synthase into partial representations of "pistons / crankshafts". Chemically reproducing biological "machines" - all by themselves. A literal machine cannot do any of those things.
you therefore assert intelligent design is required therefore intelligent design not required and as for mud puddles... you say they too are not intelligently designed. So you now have Cells on a par with mud puddles as far as the need for an intelligent design(er) goes.
A rim equivalent would be that the universe has always been. It may be expanding now, and it may start to collapse later. But, the point is that the idea of a "beginning" is a human construct. Just because everything we observe in the universe appears to have had a beginning, doesn't mean that the universe itself is subject to that condition. There is also the possibility that God is part of the universe -- formed by evolutionary forces over many universal expansions and collapses, and at some point, God was capable of creating life -- so it happened. Thus, we have both evolution and creation as codependent. The problem I have with the God part, is that a very large component of the intelligent design movement is not content with the idea that the designer may not be almighty. This group has an agenda, and it is well known: maintain Christian fundamentalist doctrine at all costs. The Bible simply does not square with anything more sophisticated than Grimm's fairy tales. So, whatever you may wish to infer from the observed universe, the Earth isn't 6K years old, and Adam and Eve are not the original sinners -- unless you choose to believe that God is a crackpot, who enjoys creating conflict among its minions. Which, if true, renders God unworthy of worship, in my humble opinion. And, if I can ever get past his voicemail system, I'll tell him so myself!
look at us, look at the whole freaking planet, look at your NEIGHBOR! LOL do you see any ..intelligent design?
Designer found in space: http://www.terrybisson.com/meat.html THEY'RE MADE OUT OF MEAT by Terry Bisson "They're made out of meat." "Meat?" "Meat. They're made out of meat." "Meat?" "There's no doubt about it. We picked up several from different parts of the planet, took them aboard our recon vessels, and probed them all the way through. They're completely meat." "That's impossible. What about the radio signals? The messages to the stars?" "They use the radio waves to talk, but the signals don't come from them. The signals come from machines." "So who made the machines? That's who we want to contact." "They made the machines. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Meat made the machines." "That's ridiculous. How can meat make a machine? You're asking me to believe in sentient meat." "I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. These creatures are the only sentient race in that sector and they're made out of meat." "Maybe they're like the orfolei. You know, a carbon-based intelligence that goes through a meat stage." "Nope. They're born meat and they die meat. We studied them for several of their life spans, which didn't take long. Do you have any idea what's the life span of meat?" "Spare me. Okay, maybe they're only part meat. You know, like the weddilei. A meat head with an electron plasma brain inside." "Nope. We thought of that, since they do have meat heads, like the weddilei. But I told you, we probed them. They're meat all the way through." "No brain?" "Oh, there's a brain all right. It's just that the brain is made out of meat! That's what I've been trying to tell you." "So ... what does the thinking?" "You're not understanding, are you? You're refusing to deal with what I'm telling you. The brain does the thinking. The meat." "Thinking meat! You're asking me to believe in thinking meat!" "Yes, thinking meat! Conscious meat! Loving meat. Dreaming meat. The meat is the whole deal! Are you beginning to get the picture or do I have to start all over?" "Omigod. You're serious then. They're made out of meat." "Thank you. Finally. Yes. They are indeed made out of meat. And they've been trying to get in touch with us for almost a hundred of their years." "Omigod. So what does this meat have in mind?" "First it wants to talk to us. Then I imagine it wants to explore the Universe, contact other sentiences, swap ideas and information. The usual." "We're supposed to talk to meat." "That's the idea. That's the message they're sending out by radio. 'Hello. Anyone out there. Anybody home.' That sort of thing." "They actually do talk, then. They use words, ideas, concepts?" "Oh, yes. Except they do it with meat." "I thought you just told me they used radio." "They do, but what do you think is on the radio? Meat sounds. You know how when you slap or flap meat, it makes a noise? They talk by flapping their meat at each other. They can even sing by squirting air through their meat." "Omigod. Singing meat. This is altogether too much. So what do you advise?" "Officially or unofficially?" "Both." "Officially, we are required to contact, welcome and log in any and all sentient races or multibeings in this quadrant of the Universe, without prejudice, fear or favor. Unofficially, I advise that we erase the records and forget the whole thing." "I was hoping you would say that." "It seems harsh, but there is a limit. Do we really want to make contact with meat?" "I agree one hundred percent. What's there to say? 'Hello, meat. How's it going?' But will this work? How many planets are we dealing with here?" "Just one. They can travel to other planets in special meat containers, but they can't live on them. And being meat, they can only travel through C space. Which limits them to the speed of light and makes the possibility of their ever making contact pretty slim. Infinitesimal, in fact." "So we just pretend there's no one home in the Universe." "That's it." "Cruel. But you said it yourself, who wants to meet meat? And the ones who have been aboard our vessels, the ones you probed? You're sure they won't remember?" "They'll be considered crackpots if they do. We went into their heads and smoothed out their meat so that we're just a dream to them." "A dream to meat! How strangely appropriate, that we should be meat's dream." "And we marked the entire sector unoccupied." "Good. Agreed, officially and unofficially. Case closed. Any others? Anyone interesting on that side of the galaxy?" "Yes, a rather shy but sweet hydrogen core cluster intelligence in a class nine star in G445 zone. Was in contact two galactic rotations ago, wants to be friendly again." "They always come around." "And why not? Imagine how unbearably, how unutterably cold the Universe would be if one were all alone ..." the end
Choices were made before time and space leading to a completely scripted environment. Free will was applied to make a world completely unreal, a world in which the Son of God could be imprisoned without any choice that was not already scripted to keep him in prison, and to torture him. Sin is the denial of reality. Really, the Son of God cannot be bound and imprisoned...not for long. He has the power to bind himself, and he also has the power to release himself. This world is like a Houdini show. It's just a show. But while the show goes on, it is "hell". What is called a "the universe" by some, is what I call "hell". Some think is is wonderful. That's why they are here. But they are not free while here. Redemption is an overall plan to release the Son from his imprisonment. The overall plan is known only by the Holy Spirit, who guides each seeming individual aspect of the Son back to freedom through a process of what I have termed "forgiveness", which is not yet understood by the world. The Son of God is everything. He is both Heaven and Hell. He is Heaven for real. He is Hell in his imagination. Hell is the Son of God, masked, blinded, darkened, deceived, twisted, upside down, and backwards. Such is the world. Redemption corrects your perception of the world so that you can return to the knowledge of who you are. It's all about "know thyself". Does that answer the question? What passes for Christianity says that man was given free-will and used it to condemn himself. To be more exact, it is the Son of God that was given free-will and used it to condemn himself. Man is the result of that. In other words, by the time bodies appear on the scene, the damage is done. Man is both the damage and the damage control. Man does not have free-will, except to choose no longer to be a man. That is the true meaning of being "chosen". You've made up your mind to value the truth. It's important to understand, contrary to what passes for Christianity, our Father has never condemned anyone for any reason. It's simply not in his vocabulary. However, it has become part of our vocabulary. And as we have condemned "others", we have condemned ourself, because we are one. Forgiveness is for those who have invested belief in condemnation, or who have wished for it. God does not forgive, because God has never condemned. The secret to salvation is to understand that we have done this to ourselves. Understanding that, we can cease and desist, and go back home. You've heard fairy tales about how a witch turns a prince into a toad. That's basically what the world is about. It is about the Son of God turning himself into a toad, as he split himself into many parts, and condemned each to oblivion. Jesus
I am kind of jumping in the middle here, but you've got to realize that the every day fundamental Christian is usually a Young Earther believing in Flood Geology. They do not want anything to do with Big Bang and thus would not have an agenda such as you mentioned. Fundamentalism is marked by literalism, pre-trib premillenialism, dispensationalism and Flood Geology. Usually the only Christians that believe in the Big Bang in a evangelical or charismatic church are those with a science background in my experience. So I'm not sure I agree with your point...
The idea of a osciallting universe has been largely discredited from what I have read. Btw, this gave the Hindu world, I believe anyway, quite a jolt because one of their beliefs is in the recreation of the universe every 4.3 billion years or something like that. Someone can correct me if I've got the details wrong...
My experience is that a fundamentalist Christian will use whatever evidence supports his/her theory of existence, despite any contradictions. There are fundamentalist Christian organizations that support the Discovery Institute. The trial in Dover, PA was all about Christian fundes using Discovery Institute materials to tear down evolution in the classroom and replace it with "Pandas and People" -- a publication that was conclusively proven to have been rewritten by doing little more than replacing the word "creation" with the word "design." A smoking gun if there ever were one.
