Intellectual property is dying. Even current movies can be had for free.

  1. "Tor" is military-grade anonymity.

No more $42 dates for movie, popcorn and soda.

  2. No kidding.

Maybe drama will be bombed back to the stone age like the music industry was, where live performance is where the only money is for the artists any more ('cept for the elite few at the very top).

Ok with me, I all but stopped going out and paying ridiculous prices for movies years ago.

"Even current movies can be had for free." ???

Here are the top 8 box office movies according to Yahoo:

    Contagion
    The Help
    Warrior
    The Debt
    Colombiana
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
    Shark Night 3D
    Apollo 18

None of these are available at that site. And some of the new releases that are available are low quality rips.

Cool. I hate hollywood. All those well-paid arrogant pricks preaching about global warming while they fly around in their private jets and live in their huge mansions that consume 10 times the energy of the average household. It's about time they saw their income seriously reduced so they can start living like the rest of us.

  6. I don't hate Hollywood as I know there are a lot of people that have to deal with the "royalty" (royal pains maybe).

Otherwise my thoughts exactly. So many of them are out of touch with what the average family, average business, and their children faces. Don't even get me started about state budgets

Their gift is the ability to entertain, and so many believe that somehow magically qualifies them to know the first thing about economics.

Every time I see an animation movie come out I think to myself "great, one more movie competing for movie ticket revenue that doesn't include five or more actors that believe socialism might be a good idea THIS time". Because as you know, this time things are different....

  7. Socialism works just fine in some countries. Has for a while now.

"Has for a while now" doesn't mean jack. That's like a trader that refuses to take a loss. Sooner or later they take the mother of all losses. Do the math. Socialism doesn't work because government spending increases far more rapidly than its income.

Sooner or later the socialists run out of other people's money to spend.

Oh sure - works "just fine" for the totalitarian regime in charge, that is.

Well, if the OP's universal truth for "intellectual property" being the crap getting pumped out of Hollywood these days, then I agree.

If the OP would even consider something more useful to mankind and the free enterprise system - like technical or scientific ideas, he would be stunningly wrong.
