Hey guys, I am in the process of ordering a new computer from dell and was wondering about the benefit of going with the e6700 versus the e6600 chipset WITHOUT overclocking. Is one chipset more reliable/stable than the other? Price is not an issue. This question is geared towards better performance for trading applications such as TS and order execution, etc. Thankyou.

  2. I've got the e6600 with 2 gigs ram w/ Windows XP. Runs EXTREMELY fast. You won't see a difference running multiple trading platforms with either the 6600 or 6700 believe me.

    E6600 runs at 2.4Ghz
    E6700 runs at 2.67Ghz

    That's the only difference...

With overclocking, you can generally get around 3.6Ghz for either with good motherboard and Ram...

    I'm running E6600 at 3.6Ghz, it's good

Might want to consider waiting a bit, Intel will likely be dropping prices on quite a few of their models shortly.

  8. LOL, be realistic guys. Core 2 duo by itself is overkill for just trading.
Get yourself any core 2 duo and 2 gigs of ram and you're pretty much set as a trader.
