Police should not be using tasers at all. They are often ineffective and too easily confused with a gun, especially in volatile situations. A strobe light, 200 lumens or better would do the trick. Easy peasy, and everyone should have one for personal defense as well.
Duante should have been arrested (misdemeanor warrentand resisting) and tazed... he shouldn't have been killed. The law is so clear what the punishment is for all crimes, and death is not one of the punishments. Even resisting arrest is not punishable by death because this not teh SS or KGB. Shooting up a grocery store in Colordo or massage parlors shoudl be punishable by death yet those guys to live. Plain and simple.
So does a muzzle flash. The strobe is useful when non lethal force is required and used in up close and personal situations, which is what police are in during many of these altercations. Blinding someone with the strobe gives the police the opportunity to subdue the person needing to be apprehended. It is much more effective than a taser.
I agree that tasers are at many times useless (especially in winter clothing) a strobe light isn’t much better because if the suspect is running they’re not looking into the light and won’t feel it’s effect

I wonder OR NOT whether we will see George Floyd riots over this. Woman calls 911 over a possible rape occurring. She bangs on police cruiser to get their attention in her distressed state. Police officer fires one across the front seat of the car at her immediately and kills her. Woman was not black. Police officer is ethnic somali muslim, either immigrant or next gen down. That's all you need to know to guess how he was charged and sentenced. 57 months. That's right. 57 Months not years. He will be out next year. Let's see how the riots unfold OR NOT in Floyd-Town. Ex-Minneapolis police officer resentenced to 57 months in prison for killing 911 caller Mohamed Noor gunned down Justine Ruszczyk Damond on July 15, 2017. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...ntenced-57-months-prison-killing-911-n1281829
