Switzerland is completely different from US. The regulations are not even in the same category. There's plenty of to comply with, obtaining a firearm actually takes time and there's loads of checks. How is that similar to US where you can buy an assault rifle within hours? On top of that carrying a gun around is only allowed in very strict conditions. Most of the weapons go from store to home to range and back. People don't drive around with guns every day. Have yet to see an American who makes this argument that has even briefly looked at Swiss regulation.
Don't go there. Comparing a gun to smoking or drinking is quite ridiculous. Smoking or drinking might shorten your lifespan by months or years or not at all if not abused. One assault rifle can kill 100 people within minutes. It's like saying both alcohol and arsenic are poisonous. So some just drink arsenic, it's their choice. Their first amendment is from an era from muskets. Takes minute to load a musket, you won't hit anything long-range and even if you do, you're more likely to wound and not kill. It's comparing a modern combat knife to a butter knife.
