I have a few questions that I would like advice on. If someone is interested in establishing a Corp or LLC strictly for the purpose of trading equities, options, or futures, what is the best way to get funding for this type of venture?

What type of back ground, or experience, should someone have before setting out soliciting funding?

Would the Corp, or LLC, have to have clients willing to invest first before it could begin it's business of trading?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

There are four ways to get assets into your hedge fund:

    • put in your own money
    • ask relatives and friends
    • have a "pedigree" from working for a respected money manager
    • have a strong track record

You need to have some money in your fund to be able to open accounts and begin trading. But that could just be your seed money. Many people trade their own seed money for quite a while to build up a track record if the second and third bullet points aren't bringing in many assets.

    Good luck!
