No, it was someone who replied to you earlier.

Of course the cost of gasoline is only part of the story...

"But that just means Americans are driving less!" Well, they are, thanks to the internet, but there is also...

Ah, the guy who wanted to puke was Redduke, the same guy you're siding with in the other thread.

As for the rest of your data, what does this have to do with our discussion regarding how the data being presented for inflation does not jive with actual data because of adjustments/hedonics, etc.? You don't seem to want to answer that.

I'm not answering it because you don't have "actual data", you have (at best) data that you want to believe. Furthermore, the impact of inflation is what's important, anyway.

Oh, sorry. I didn't post my charts because I was under the impression that the first twenty or thirty times I had referenced them in various threads, would be enough. But here we go again, for old time's sake.

As a reminder, the 1990's based alternate is if the BLS calculated the CPI the same way today that they had in 1990. The 1980's one, the same as in 1980.

Shadowstats has "been discredited". If inflation were actually that high you would be hearing about it from the general public, whose perception of inflation (while inflated, heh) is still lower than shadowstats.

    You're the one who asked.

[Appeal to authority] doesn't necessarily prove but, "that's the way to bet". :D

Let's move on to the other volatile item omitted from core CPI, food...

I'm ok with moving to food, but you can't say Shadowstats was "discredited" just because a few bloggers online think that Shadowstats isn't a good indicator. If "that was the way to bet" just by google (or duckduck) responses, then the government also lies about CPI.
