This is my point exactly. Maybe for once in his life.... Trump is putting something far bigger and far more important than himself first.

Think about it. It would be so easy for him to orchestrate some kind of China deal that the markets would just love and rally on. That would be the easy way out. Just kick the can down the road. The whole China can. All his predecessors have.

Make no mistake about it. We are in a cold-war with China. They have been (and still are) stealing our most secret technologies and have infiltrated our most advanced weapon systems, including those in space. Excellent read: https://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-19-128

Sometimes a nation needs to take some short term pain for the sake of its long term security and prosperity. China is not our friend. And they buy our Treasuries only because it is the safest risk-free investment vehicle there is for parking billions and billions of dollars. They really have no choice.

As shocking as this sounds (and I agree it is shocking).... I truly believe Trump is putting the long-term health and security of our country first in this matter. Maybe he's getting it from his Generals, or Bannon and the likes... but give him credit for standing pat while the markets correct. They'll come back.

China needs to stop stealing our technology and open its markets to fair trade.
If this is not stopped soon, America will lose its place as the leader of the free world... and all the GOOD that we really do will be gone. Because we DO do good. We are a loving, generous country that promotes freedom and the rights of individuals worldwide. Despite the narratives and our many flaws... no one else comes close.

So let the markets tank. F China.
    MAGA!!

Sorry man, I'm here for money, I want to see the markets prosper, I don't see an ounce of ethics, or virtue, or patriotism in that man, his motives are not altruistic, he's in it for himself. You could make the case for his advisers (Navarro) as misguided as his beliefs may be.

China is just illegal immigrants in the economic sense, it's a scary boogeyman that's convenient to hate; it also helps that they look different than us, so it sells well to a nationalistic base. Yes, they've been copying our shit for decades, and we've looked the other way because their labor helps our bottom line. It's what we've silently agreed on, so let's not fool ourselves like they've somehow pulled the wool over our eyes.

Yes, I want to see China be original, not steal IP, improve human rights, stop being a bully in the South Pacific, but pulling a 180 on what's been that status quo for decades is a horrible move. Whatever happened to not being bellicose towards Russia, but it's OK to be so w/China?

No mention of the legitimate advances China has made on their own; their push for superb education, their push for agreements to allow companies in if they share IP so they don't become the world's sweatshop (which we've begrudgingly agreed on but are pushing to rescind now that they're catching up). America's just getting salty that China is becoming a competitor and surpassing us in telecom, AI, and semiconductors. Punishing them for that is the opposite of capitalism, it's Protectionism.

  3. Trump, the billionaire US President with the model wife and who has certain world class skills, has made some implementation errors with his agenda.

I suspect many of our politicians have several common elements such as: Failed lawyers, feeling the need to be liked, and wanting to be in a position of power so people will almost have to listen to them. Trump may want further validation, but I believe he is sincerely concerned, like so many US citizens, where our country was headed. Almost no one in the world wants loose borders except a few politicians, for example.

How Trump implemented his trade agenda could have been better. He could have taken a lower key and slower approach that would have likely have put the weight of world opinion on China.

For those who are not familiar with running a business, research and development and otherwise acquiring or developing intellectual property is very expensive. Some technology companies spend 20% of sales in R&D. For comparison, many established non-technology and non-financial companies are happy with a 5% net profit margin. Producing a viable product or service has no guarentee of success. A country that systematically copies another's intellectual property has a huge competative advantage because they don't have to pay for these R&D costs or have the same risk of failure with new products. In addition, when these businesses have a very low cost of labor relative to developed countries and government funds available for long term financial support, these businesses have the ability to continue on until successful. Most businesses in the US do not have these advantages.

Trump needs to maintain pressure on China until there a trade agreement that seriously addresses this huge issue. Continuing the trade war will likely risk recession or even worse, but until this issue is addressed, it will not go away. For reference, ask how Leftist Hollywood feels about intellectual rights such as movie producers and record labels.

  4. What does having ex-felons as part of your base, many of them drug dealers in Florida, say about the Democratic Party?

Last week you started a thread on dead exPresident Bush. I found it ironic and misinformed of you when you found a few kind words to say about him. Bush Sr, a former CIA director, was directly involved in the Iran contra scandal and lied about it. He skillfully maneuvered Saddam Hussein to attack Kuwait by suggesting that he would turn a blind eye towards Iraq enforcing old territorial claims. Iraq continued to ignore OPEC directives and dumped oil onto the world markets. This seriously affected the Texas economy and the energy business that the Bush family had ties to. Even under Reagan, Bush seemed to be the defacto President. Reagan was like a figurehead. Have you seen some of Reagan's speeches on YouTube? The guy was not fully there. Worse still, it appears Bush, Sr. installed some very partisan Government employees to help protect Bush family interests and influence. George Bush was even worse. You may want to look at the favorable political coincidences where multiple prominent Democratic Senatorial candidates died while running for reelection when control of the Senate was close.

I am hoping you are more than a paid troll and will do your own independent research on this.

If a gun were put to my head with orders to vote for either Hilary Clinton or another Bush, I would vote for Hilary. If a gun were put to my head with orders to vote for Pelosi or Bush, I would disarm the gun holder and shoot myself.

3.Bush was far from perfect but he is a thousand times better than the piece of shit currently in the white house.Nothing he did is worse than colluding with Russia to win the white house. He was also a real patriot who fought for his country and did not request deferments for bone spurs.
