  1. Hi fiveshorts

    I went to the site you quoted and looked up their ES data listings, they seemed to be identical to what I have with the exception that I have rounded my figures up/down to the nearest tick.

    I have also listed the formulas used. Notice that the R2, R1, PP, S1 and S2 formulation for both Woodie and Standard are the same.

    To my understanding the numbers quoted are correct.

    Woodie Pivot Points

    The formula used in the calculation of Woodie Pivot Points are:

    R4 = R3 + RANGE
    R3 = H + 2 * (PP - L) (same as: R1 + RANGE)
    R2 = PP + RANGE
    R1 = (2 * PP) - LOW
    PP = (HIGH + LOW + CLOSE) / 3
    S1 = (2 * PP) - HIGH
    S2 = PP - RANGE
    S3 = L - 2 * (H - PP) (same as: S1 - RANGE)
    S4 = S3 - RANGE

    Classic Pivot Points

    The formula used in the calculation of Classic Pivot Points are:

    R4 = R3 + RANGE (same as: PP + RANGE * 3)
    R3 = R2 + RANGE (same as: PP + RANGE * 2)
    R2 = PP + RANGE
    R1 = (2 * PP) - LOW
    PP = (HIGH + LOW + CLOSE) / 3
    S1 = (2 * PP) - HIGH
    S2 = PP - RANGE
    S3 = S2 - RANGE (same as: PP - RANGE * 2)
    S4 = S3 - RANGE (same as: PP - RANGE * 3)

  2. Thank you. Please take this in the spirit of constructive discussion, not argument, but when you go to their Pivot Point Calculator (http://www.mypivots.com/calculators/pivot-point-calculator.aspx); type in the OHLC, then change the formula set to Classic or to Woodies, you get very different formulas... I've been using this page for a long time with good results, hopefully it wasn't just a mirage all along...:mad:

    Quote:

    The classic/default formulae in the calculator are:

    PP = (H + L + C) / 3
    R1 = 2 * PP - L
    S1 = 2 * PP - H
    R2 = PP + RANGE
    S2 = PP - RANGE
    R3 = PP + RANGE * 2
    S3 = PP - RANGE * 2
    R4 = PP + RANGE * 3
    S4 = PP - RANGE * 3

    The Woodies formulae are:

    In the Pivot Point (PP) drop down formula select (H+L+O+O)/4
    In the R3 drop down formula select H + 2 * (PP - L)
    In the S3 drop down formula select L - 2 * (H - PP)
    Hit the calculate button.

    So I'm confused why they would have diff. formulas in the calculator than the ones obviously used for their Daily summary... I guess it's a question for them, but I;'ll do some more reseacrh and hopefully get to the bottom of it. I wouldn't care about a tic or two, or rounded-up numbers, but 3pts is a big ol' difference.

    Thanks for your patience.

  3. Thats very strange I have just done a little search on the net and found 3 different calculations for Woodies pivots. Although the pivots are only for confluence with our S/R numbers and not hugely important, this seems like a debate well worth having. I want myself and everyone to have the very best numbers.

    So lets try and work together to improve the pivot data, any suggestions on formulas would be great we can have a vote or something to decide which people like the most.

    Thank you for arousing debate five, atleast I know someone is reading the sheet lol

  5. Hi everyone

    Please find attached todays levels. The S/R numbers are in the black column, the MP, Pivots, Fibs, Simple Moving Averages and Summary Numbers are for confluence and information.

    Always remember to use the numbers as a guideline for potential areas of high probability plays.

    Always use a set up based upon your system to enter a trade
    .
    Good trading all

  6. I'm not seeing a number for VAH today, is this because there is no confluence at this level or is it an oversight?

  7. No confluence. needs to be around a maximum of 2 points from a level.

  8. Always good if you move a couple of thousand ES, isn´t it ? :)

    ES your numbers once again were off the hook . Had some old numbers on my chart from previous days and they were just as good as the numbers from today. Thanks for all your hard work
