Index trading at 350pm

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by sammybea, Apr 29, 2020.

  1. Trading the index futures in the late day and early after-market has become a "thing". We traders should all be paying attention for it.

(Yesterday the ES rallied 30 points above fair value after the 4:00 PM NYSE close, but gave it all back and more before the NY open. Good traders would be doing something with that.)

It's earning season so large moves after market aren't uncommon.

  5. It's not just "earnings season"... includes late-day liquidity for MOC orders beyond earnings.

MOC are published before the close and executed at the close 4 pm ET.

Significant moves after market are caused by earnings or other news.

  7. More than that.... 10 minutes before the NYSE close. Have you not noticed?

Lol, what are you talking about dude?

I posted a screenshot earlier in this thread of MOC orders and the release times, so yes i have noticed ... 95% of my equity trades are entered by MOC orders.

I quoted your posts on after market moves, moves past 4 pm ET.
MOC has nothing to do with those moves.

  9. 2 separate things, not just "after market earnings reports".

  10. Should have kept this personal. Whatever cred you had as a trader, lost some of it with this revelation.
