Index Options - European Expiration?

Discussion in 'Options' started by brothertruffle, Feb 7, 2010.

  1. Can someone tell me, or give me a link to where I can find out which index options are european expiration or American expiration?
I heard that some Index options are American expiration style.

The CBOE gives this information, although I don't know if they have it as one list. Be aware also that some products have both types of expirations, e.g., the XEO and the OEX are identical except for their rights to exercise.

There are also "micro" versions like XSP (micro SPX) that are identical except for size

Sadly these have never taken off.

  4. OEX is American style.

That's the only one among the major broad based indexes

Among micro versions, I think that MNX has decent liquidity.
