You've had some good input as to how to consider today's loss and trying to get it back. Appears you missed it. When one starts trading to make money or "get it back" or "get out of the hole" one usually digs that hole deeper. Take your PnL off the screen. Watch the chart if that is how you entered and make your decisions based on what the chart is doing not on what the PnL says. Make 'em pretty, Chris
So you traded a couple of hundred contracts? Think that makes you an expert? I've traded over 1300 contracts (real) and thats just on the YM, and I still don't think I'm there yet. I think you still have alot to learn, and you would be doing yourself a favour if you stopped trading real-time and went to sim until you find a setup that works for you and you start to focus. Seriously, I am in shock that you had to lose money before you realized that you should be trading the mini contracts. That means you didn't give you trade/risk management enough thought and don't understand how you emotionally react to a trade. You are very lucky there are people around on your journal, like NoDoji, who are willing to help you. If people say post a chart, then post the bloody chart. If you have enough time to have a journal and to respond to people then you have 30 sec to post a chart. Its simple. At least in TradeStation which I use, all I have to do is "save as picture", choose jpeg, and when I type a reply here I attach file (look at the last row of the 'post reply' screen). It makes me sick that people want to help you and you don't accept their help.
just made 3 points on a sell CME Globex Euro futures trade...!!..but, of course, did not hold it long enough and could have made more profit!...but, coming off of yesterdays hard day...this is very encouraging
nice job, but you want to win the war not just a battle. therefore I recommend you post a chart and see if people can help you identify how you would make more money on that trade.
