Found this about a youtube channel.....what amazes me is how much hearst paid a year later after the entire company was bought for $33 million.......Awesomeness bought for $33 million sometime in 2013 and a year later in 2014, 25% of the company was sold for $80,000,000?? so a company worth $33,000,000 now worth $320,000,000 a year later....10X the value? There is just unbelievable amounts of money floating in our system....inflating every asset, I know media content is on the up and up, but to what extreme are we going here. Are there limits to what one is will to pay or does everyone who makes an investment now a days whether its buying up a social media company or an app in this market think they are going to come out on top and sell it for even more money then what they originally paid..... Daily Mix is a YouTube channel aimed at the 13-to-24 crowd. AwesomenessTV, a teen YouTube network that bought Big Frame this year, has a deal with Nickelodeon. It plans to use its stars as a “farm team” for television, the New York Times reported. That’s not a huge surprise — Awesomeness was gobbled up by Dreamworks for $33 million last year, and then Dreamworks sold a 25 percent stake in the company to Hearst this month for more than $80 million. YouTube stars in particular are the ultimate embodiment of “Stars — They’re just like us!”
Here's a YouTube'r named Jenna Marbles that is killing it, making a bundle. Been at it for about 5 yrs and has just under an incredible 15 million subscribers! Weird little channel that's kinda fun to watch: https://www.youtube.com/user/JennaMarbles/videos
Don't have the patience to watch, so this is just based on "Load More"and checking out what she posted, some of it at least. 1) She is imaginative - quite a variety of content, offbeat, topical, generational 2) She probably is able to make her ideas interesting, otherwise people won't keep coming back for more. 3) She has worked pretty hard putting all the stuff together, so this is not one of those "How I made a million in just 30 minutes a day" things. In short, many will say wow, few will succeed. Now where have we heard that before?
Must look into this YouTube thingy and learn to fake having any kind of talent at all. World has gone TOTALLY mad. Someone got hacked this week, there feeds where bringing in £14,000 per day I think it was, for a 6second meme or something equally as stupid sounding.
I just don't see how many people can value the content she shows, I guess about 90% of her viewers have to be 12-20 year olds, I mean there is zero value in the content...once you amass followers it just snowballs and she got lucky with one video that went viral and from that day on she got her followers, now with 15 million viewers if you do one video a week you are easily good for 6 figures a year......and thats our new economy!
There is ZERO value in all TV to be fair, the Value is in the Adverts between the TV we like and watch, that's all about getting people to watch in the belief they'll watch and buy from adverts. Same with Youtube, it allows them to make money off adverts so they kick some back to encourage it, smart business. Personally I download all my TV so no advert for me, adverts don't make me buy and Youtube annoys me too much as too many adverts. Without Adverts there is no TV or Internet pretty much!
Same here, AdBlock Plus and I don't even remember what an ad looks like on Youtube, anymore. If an old geek like me has it, I'm sure the younger and more tech savvy audience would have it too. Schaefer
You'll still the Video's it forces you to watch, before playing the Video on Youtube. Or does it block that to ? mate reckons his does but don't believe him, doesn't on mine.
