In the year 2020, which corporation will have the highest market cap. in the world?

  1. I agree with most posts here.. some company we have yet to hear about.

It took decades to get the automobile to the mass market.

It took almost as long for the telephone.

    Years for the lightbulb.

Then the computer (even less time), the internet.. VOIP a few months and ticking...

Time to mass market for new technologies is taking less and less time than ever before.

True.. I think they failed miserably in Germany. But, did anyone else see that CNBC documentary "the Age of Wal-mart? They showed a scene with a stampede of Chinese women at a Shanghai store opening. They were so frenzied over these rotisserie chickens that the women were breaking the glass cases to buy them.

  5. No I missed that (in aus :))

I only made the point because I've seen attempts at low cost crossover down here that failed and the Chinese are nasty competitors --- if its good they copy it and I suspect they can copy enough of Walmart to out mart it. Also if the red army (say) are financing it they can out wait it while they underprice it.

I remember when Cisco Systems discovered the Chinese were copying the routers and running IOS in them they approached the Chinese factory and offered them the opportunity to licence Cisco kit instead. The Chinese declined and offered Cisco the opportunity to licence their kit (stolen).

It makes for a funny world :)

  7. I find the pick of google very interesting. To me unless google merges with another company with more durable assets (think AOL/time warner) I think it will go to zero in the long run. Someday someone is going to come up with a better way of searching and a better way of getting paid for it. When this happens google will stop being "cool" and everyone will switch to the latest greatest thing
