Sweden sees jump in coronavirus deaths with less restrictive guidelines under scrutiny https://www.foxnews.com/world/sweden-coronavirus-deaths-rise-guidelines Sweden is seeing an unsettling rise in coronavirus deaths, as comparatively lax restrictions across the country are coming under scrutiny. The Nordic country had reported 1,540 deaths tied to the coronavirus pandemic, an increase of 29 from Saturday. Last week, the Public Health Agency of Sweden said 1,333 people had died of COVID-19. Sweden’s figures are considerably more than in the rest of Scandinavia. While its population of over 10 million nearly doubles those of Denmark, Norway and Finland individually, its COVID-19 death toll was up to 17 times higher than those countries, according to reports. Sweden has nearly 10 times the number of COVID-19-related deaths than its Nordic neighbors. Here's where they went wrong https://www.businessinsider.com/how-sweden-and-norway-handled-coronavirus-differently-2020-4 Sweden, which has yet to order any lockdown amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, has seen 14,777 COVID-19 cases so far, and 1,580 deaths from the virus. The virus has been more nearly ten times more deadly in Sweden than other Nordic countries. Norway, which has half as many people, has seen 7,127 cases, and just 181 deaths, and Finland, which has a population similar to Norway's, has seen 3,868 COVID-19 cases and 94 deaths. Charts released by Pantheon Macroeconomics show that Sweden's cases have yet to plateau, while Norway's case count appears to be on a downslide. (More at above url)
This is a tragedy, but it serves as a cautionary tale. Georgia governor Brian Kemp, are you listening?
More ridiculous crap from the uneducated. Do you even understand what the shutdowns are supposed to do? Do know what Fauci is even trying to accomplish and what the assumptions are?
those other countries will face far more deaths when they re open unless a cure or therapy is found. We don't know the final results until this is all over. locking healty people up in their houses while there is excess hospital capacity may turn out to be a massive mistake. No one knows yet.
We will just wait and see how disastrously this turns out for Sweden. With quickly declining support among the Swedish people and Swedish media in the past few days, I don't think it will be in place much longer. I expect the health minister and a few other government officials will be out of jobs.
may be... but on the flip side... there will be riots soon if the govt doesn't reopen the economy or grant a useful UBI. What are we going to do when people have no money the price of homes have wiped out and everyone's equity is gone... Therefore most of the upper middle and lower upper realize they don't have a pot to piss in once their home is foreclosed. At this point in time, this lockdown is extreme and borders insanity. At risk people should lock themselves down... not everybody... not while hospitals are losing millions of dollars a month and at least half empty. Will some people die... yes. Are some people dying because of lockdown...yes... and it will be getting worse.
